Handicapping The Worlds and the Future of Offshore After

Matt's Picks

Superboat Unlimited: Wake Effects
Superboat: Pro Floors Racing NZ-1
Superboat Vee: Marker 17 Marine
Superboat Stock: FJ Propeller

Handicapping Matt's Picks

Unlimited: Unless one of the boats not scheduled to be there shows up, easy pick.
Superboat: Interesting choice. Certainly should be a contender for the podium. The question, if they win is this the new team for next year with a Skater instead of a MTI? But, you would think the overall win this year will be WHM or Performance. I'm going with Johnny for the win.
Vee: Marker might be in first place at some point in the championship, but they will probably fail tech inspection again if SBI has a good inspector lined up. That leaves Britt with the championship three-peat.
Stock Outboard: This will be a tough class for anybody to win. Three top tier boats all have a chance to win it all. But I have to agree with you, Gary gets the championship back.

Vee Lite is getting more and more interesting. Kind of like the old days before it was ruined by engine changes, rules infractions, and a lack of inspections.

Hopefully they don't let that happen again.

Agree with you on Matt's picks....one might be contrarian, but Cleveland's skater has been fast this year and plagued with gremlins in every race. Superboat should be a battle, but think Myrick and Johnny will win 2 of the 3. My favorite to watch is S-class...Gary is the best, no doubt....but CR racing is on a hot streak, with back-2-back wins. I think its more than likely we will see a sweep, for the cats, from the LOTO teams. If we're making predictions, here is mine in order:

Unlimited: Wake Effects, CT Marine, and Victory
Superboat: Performance, NZ, Mconn
Stock: CR, FJ, and Allen
Supervee: Marker Marine, LBV, Boatfloater.com

Are you leaving Shadow Pirate out because they made his hydraulic jackplate illegal now?

These new DW's are all fast...the "rookies" in Killer Bee should be upfront as well. Here is the reason S-class is the best class...most races are won by a couple sec; the lead boat will not be ahead of 4th by more than 15 seconds. It's going to be a fight till the end.

I don't consider it the best class, but it is certainly coming back.

I did consider it the best class period when the rules were identical worldwide and any xcat or New Zealand/Australian boat (now Superboat 600 I believe) could also run. Hopefully that will happen again someday if the orgs in the US start working together with others around the world and standardize rules again..

A common sense reform is needed badly, but bringing SBI, RWO, and OPA together doesn't seem likely. If the sport had backing for coverage and funding...such as NBC...it would have potential for growth. Would love to see an international presence.

Reason's S-class is the best class: 1) Largest field of boats, 9 registered. 2) 6 of which are newer Doug Wrights. 3) All the DW's are evenly matched. 4) Most lead changes. 5) Lower attrition rate. 6) The winning team is those whom picked the right setup for the conditions.

Who is the ninth? I can only think of eight.

Turtle
FJ
CR
Deep
Allen
Jackhammer
Pirate
Killer Bee

I actually think there will be more Vee Lites than Stock OB's. But who knows who will show up for which World's.

I'm not so sure. Tyson and Tyler finally got through the first corner without being bumped and look really good.

Definitely going to be an interesting day today.

First race 10:00 on SBI's Livestream!!
