I have a 97 SLS, the power window switch for the drivers window is not happy, it rolls down but doesn't like to roll up. if I open the door and beat on the panel a couple time it does go up.. so Im thinking it's dirty/corroded. Can I spray contact cleaner around the button and let it seep down?? could that possibly help?? would it eat up the plastic?? any ideas???

def. the switch..pulled it out today, dissected it... banged on it, banged on it a little harder and got the window to go up, if I dissect it again and spray it with contact cleaner you think i would help?? or would it eat the plastic up?? you wouldn't have the schematics for it would you??

If you can get to the contacts, sand paper will work ok to clean them. lightly. contact cleaner may damage the plastic. some of the cleaners make the plastic super brittle or discolor the parts. I can email schematics if you want

the schematics would be sweet... no way to get to the contacts...its like a basketweave of contacts...weirdest thing I have ever seen... no wonder it costs so damn much to build a car....they have engineered 75 cents wrth of basic switches into a 250 dollar electronic disasterpiece..

Email is robsvatora@hotmail.com

Thanks

nope...ripped it all apart, got the window up. then, like an idiot..got in comming home from work the other day and rolled it down out of habit. now it's stuck down again... and its raining

look here trailer trash!!!!! its a caddy...the windows are supposed to work!! buy american people say...the caddy is disintegrating at 110K my explorer started comming unglued at 120K the nissan truck I had went 225K before it really needed anything, and the trooped I had was running strong when I sold it at 340K. I currently have an american union buit car and 2 american union built trucks and they are all trash.

window switches are always available on ebay motors.

there are original and aftermarket, just be sure and check seller rep and freight cost

If you wouldnt keep leaving the window down, the switch wouldnt be full of water and giving you trouble:reddevil::rofl:
