Gale Force Advisory with a 46 cig

Hell of a run on saturday. Thanks for your help Tim. Pic is leaving port clinton.

So its 11 am and hop in the boat. Its blowing every bit of the 50mph gale force winds. I thought I was going to have a problem getting out of my lift but it went fine. Then I get out on the lake and the waves are from 7 to 10 foot but real close and my boat is going 65 mph and is handeling great. Not even poping out just riding from one wave to the next. THEN>>>>>>>

Get off plane to get into the ramp near CIC and then the fun starts. My truck and trailer hasn't arrived.... So as I'm trying to control the boat the wind and waves are now kicking my ass. No chance to tie up so both engines in gear and I'm circleing. Tip of my bow was splitting the waves sending a 2-3 foot wave down the bow and into the cockpit. Tried to get back on plane but at this time the wind and waves were to strong and my boats props were washing out.

So then the truck shows up and at this time about 100 people have come to watch the circus. However my driver puts the trailer in and doesn't open the drive gaurd. Lucky I saw but my phone got ruined through the thousands of gallons of water that had dreanched me so it took some time for him to finally hear me.

Going on the trailer it was going to be a one shot attempt. Luckily I slid it on like a glove. Go to pull out however and the trailer bottoms out on the ramp. I'm like what else can go wrong. So start looking for stuff to put under the trucks tires and finally gave up on that idea. I hoped in the truck backed it back down in the water and floored it. The truck rose up and the trailer cleared without even touching the ground.
Some guy comes up and says I need your email I got the whole thing on video LOL

Moral of the story... Respect mother nature, and be glad I had engines that didn't stall.

I was in Buffalo on Saturday and the wind was gale force there. This was the weekend of the Leopa Tadson Tea party at Put in Bay. I wonder how things went out there. Not a good day to be on Lake Erie.

The lake has to live up to it's reputation.........

Nice work getting her on the trailer! Man, I have BEEN there before!

I bet running that bad ass 46 in the snot was KICK ASS though.

Post that vid if you get it! Should be good for a chuckle since you greased her in unscathed! :sifone:

This is excatly why i stayed in cbus...i knew it would be nasty! And how oh how did i know that you would be running.....good thing she didnt stall! 4 day countdown and it back at it.

Could you have raised the truck's airbags for more clearance at the peak of the ramp?

Nice work.

I've been there before with a trailer bottoming out. Do NOT use the ramp at the Miami Outboard Club!!

We had to launch and load with the truck/trailer at a 45* angle to the ramp; with a last second wheel turn to straighten the trailer a bit.

.

I know how to drop the air out, but not sure how to increase it. I know it can be done but I just have to figure it out. Dropping it is as easy as hitting the button on the dash.

there is a way to wire the air system to override the level valve in the air system. We use it on car haulers since the fifth wheel is so low going into dealership driveways. Let me know if you need help and I will try to guide you to a place in your area that knows how to do it.

Thx bg, how much higher do you think it would allow me to go???

The State Park ramp at Catawba is one of the best shows on the planet when the weather kicks up. Pick any Saturday afternoon in July and you've got a good chance at being treated to a show you'll never forget.

The first act is everyone racing into the inlet. Then there's the parking lot derby where they all rush to beat each other to get in line to beat the storm. Then the real fun begins- watching all the guys that aren't going to make it. One afternoon a guy got so screwed up that the boat impaled itself on the trailer roller, then sank, half off the trailer. Took a huge piece of the bottom out. Now the ramp is fouled. Then some grossly over-reacting amateur decides to "beach" his boat. Problem is, the beach is basketball-sized limestone and his 24' Starcraft is aluminum.
