Funds Brave restore thread

When I bought my first boat, I took my Dad with me to pick it up, and then launch it.
We ran out of Rossford, to downtown Toledo, and then headed back after geting to Harrison's.
My Dad told me to "HIT IT, I want to see what this thing will do" after I made it past the first train bridge on the way back.
Ran full throttle to the no-wake zone.
I was completely unfamiliar with this boat, and my Dad always had cruisers.
I was nervous running, and trimming the boat, but seeing that smile on my Dad's face... That was great.
It's great that you can get your Dad involved.

Thanks. But I am not out of the woods yet. :D

Spent the last three days in the bilge. It's amazing where the milkshake gets. Behind everything, inside everything. Everything is now out of the bilge that is coming out. I will probably give it a scrub with something like soft scrub to get the very last of it. Then I will do one side at a time, hitting it with Acetone before I paint.

Will be going through the trim pump motors on the bench on the next rainy day.

Hoping to get the heads tomorrow. Went with AFR.

I've never seen anyone run the raycor filters with the clear bowl on a high performance boat, they work OK? It would be nice to see if you have any water in the fuel,

Why didnt you pull the hatch off when doing the bilge? I see the hatch all the way back? it is not hitting the paint on the rear deck?

No. It was laying back on a moving pad sandwich with a plastic car ramp center. :)
Now it is back down and the boat is covered.

Hey Fund, any update on your motors? When do you hope to have them ready for installation?

Waiting for the final two elements, the heads and the cams.
(Well, morels and lifters too)

I am hoping to have the boat finished by July 4.
I wanted to have this one particular guy do the valve trains and spec and grind the cams. I am willing to wait for his work.
A friend with a marine shop is doing the assembly and re-install. I am working on the bilge and re-rig of some items. Will be painting the bilge this weekend, I think.

What are you gonna use? I was looking at Smiity's cooling thread and noticed his bilge is black with colored splats?
