Funds Brave restore thread

We went last year without a boat and wished we had one. I almost rented a runabout. Couldn't bring myself to be that tourist guy.
But it is so beautiful all around there. One of the reasons I stayed in the 28 range was trailering. But I spent my truck money on better power, so I am waiting to buy more truck until the boat is done. My 1500 won't do it safely. My buddy drags it around for me when I need him to. But I need to get into a 4x4 F250 or CK2500 or bigger when the boat is done.

Our truck pulls the boat beautifully. I think one of the reasons is that the trailer was made to fit the boat, and it fits like a glove. Never bounces around.

So you gonna polish them or paint them Fundy?

I was gonna paint them. You just can't see em. The intakes and blocks are painted. The valve covers are polished. Here is a pic of what they looked like before, which is essentially what they will look like again. Same intakes, exhausts, valve covers. I will add the valve cover to flame arrestors crankcase vent tubes. A few other things.

My trim pumps were covered in crusty yet oily yuck. And some milkshake residue. I disassembled the pumps from the brackets and the brackets from the stringer mounts. Cleaned them in Dawn. Sanded them and repainted the brackets.

I ended up cleaning the pump exteriors with armor all. It worked great.

Anyway... the pic of the look.

My goal is July 4. We'll see. August and September are nice on the lake. Next year, I will be able to jump the spring.

Phragle gave me that pic framed for my birthday. :D

Fund,
So finally what are you installing for power? I think I read somewhere you were gonna have 600hp normally aspirated? That should be really fast!.. I hope mine will end up with around that same hp, but with the blowers. Any day now we should finally get them installed. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck!

That's cool. Since I had to do new builds anyway... I went up in size a smidgey. ;) Hasn't been a dyno pull.... but the number that you mention works on paper I suppose.

Good parts. Hope that the assembly is as good.

Good luck!

Getting lots of sand out of the cushions..... I'm getting pretty good at cleaning pleats! Almost have it perfected, needs lots of Q-tips......:sifone:

Great to hear John!! Got some new props for the cigarette that I need to try out!!

Hey Bill.... those cabin cushions cleaned up really well.

Definately bought me some time on new cushions. I will put off cabin work until next year.
