FOLSOM, Calif. (KCRA) —Three people are missing after a boat apparently capsized in Folsom Lake Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

The boat, named "Freedom," tipped over just before 2 p.m. near Brown's Ravine, investigators said.

Officials recovered the boat.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Department sent a dive team to search the water for the three missing boaters.

Investigators said they believe the boat was a relatively new purchase, but do not know what level of experience the boat's operator had.

Update: Three bodies involved in Folsom Lake boat accident identified

The bodies of three of the four men believed to have been lost in a high-speed boating accident last weekend on Folsom Lake have been recovered and identified.

Late Saturday, El Dorado County officials confirmed that the bodies of the two adults recovered Saturday afternoon are Toby Strauch, 54, and Gerald Jacobs, 53. Strauch and Jacobs’ bodies were found shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday on the south fork side of the lake.

On Friday, California Department of Parks and Recreation personnel discovered the first of the bodies, identified Saturday as James Andrew Strauch, 47. Jon Smith, 48, was also believed to have been aboard the boat when it crashed May 10. All four men are from the Sacramento area.

The group’s Skater 32 speedboat was believed to have been traveling more than 100 mph before it crashed.

Officials report fourth body recovered from Folsom Lake

State Parks and El Dorado County sheriff’s officials report that a body was recovered Monday afternoon in an area of Folsom Lake where the bodies of three of four victims of a May 10 speedboat crash were discovered in recent days.

An El Dorado County sheriff’s vessel patrol located the body about 3 p.m. off the tip of the peninsula on the south fork side of the lake, according to a California Department of Parks and Recreation news release. The crew initiated the recovery and notified the coroner.

Sgt. Chris Felton, a spokesman for the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, said it has not been determined whether the body is that of Jon Smith, 48, the fourth victim of the May 10 crash. He said identification is expected by Tuesday.

The El Dorado County Coroner's Office released the causes of death for four men who died in a boating accident two weeks ago on Folsom Lake.

The men's bodies were found within four days of each other in the lake. The coroner's office said on Wednesday that:

James Strauch, 47, died of a cervical vertebral fracture. His body was found on Friday, May 16.
Toby Strauch, 54, died of a cervical vertebral fracture. His body was found on Saturday, May 17.
Gerald Jacobs, 53, died of an aortic transection. His body was found on Saturday, May 17.
Kenneth Smith, 48, died of a cervical vertebral fracture. His body was found on Monday, May 19.
The men were on a speed boat on Saturday, May 10 when it capsized in the middle of Folsom Lake, near Brown's Ravine.

The speed boat, which is 35 to 40 feet long, was recovered by search crews the day of the accident. Rescue personnel had been searching for the men since the day of the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
