Five injured in Englewood boat vs. Jet Ski crash

ENGLEWOOD, FL -

Five people were taken to the hospital after a water crash involving a boat and a jet ski in Charlotte County Sunday.

According to Charlotte County Fire and EMS officials, a call came in around 4:30 p.m. about a boat striking a Jet Ski.

There were four people in the boat and one person on the Jet Ski during the crash.

After the boat crashed into the Jet Ski, everyone on the boat was thrown into the water.

A private citizen on a sailboat rescued everyone involved in the crash and brought them to the Stump Pass Marina.

The 54-year-old man on the Jet Ski was taken to Englewood Community Hospital after suffering severe injuries including amputation of a leg.

Officials also say one female was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital with possible chest injuries.

A 40-year-old male, 43-year-old female and 12-year-old boy on the boat was also taken to Englewood Community Hospital for injuries.

FWC is investigating the crash.

Jet Ski rider dies after colliding with boat in Englewood
ENGLEWOOD, FL -
Update: The driver of the Jet Ski, Lee Hollis, has died from injuries sustained during the crash, according to FWC officials.
 
So far I've heard nothing on the investigation except the ski rider may have made a right turn in front of the boat. However, nothing has been released from the investigation yet that I've heard.
