Anybody have a reasonably simple way to convert WMV files to MP4's? Was looking for some kinda freeware but havnt found anything yet. Got a new phone a few weeks ago and would like to convert and load some things on it from my home pc (no . . not porn ).


or am i just gonna hafta suck it up an buy a program :ack2:

google dvdvideosoft , look for "free 3gp converter" , i have the file and its pretty small if you want me to e-mail it to you
it will do 3gp , mp4 and a few others , i found it when i got a clone Iphone

its worked fine for me , 3gp is what i use for my phone , but theres a version just for the Iphone too if thats what you got

. . . got it THANKS! worked great. i actually converted and re sized a bunch of old sit coms and loaded them on my phone. Newsradio, Seinfield, Simpsons, stuff like that and loaded them on my phone. :sifone:

Anybody know if i can take an actual DVD and convert it to wmv or mp4's?

a dvd is a lil tougher , it has to be converted to divx , then to mp4 , it can be done but most cell phone batteries will die before a 90 minute movie is finished , who would want to watch a feature film on a 4" or less screen anyway. porn on the other hand .............. lol j/k

i thought it might be kinda cool for traveling, like on planes or something. I think i'll stick to the mindless sitcoms, not sure porn is such a hot idea with who know who sit'in next to ya on a flight. .

I'll probably use the mp3 player more than anything though, got tons of stuff on that. All Feynemans lectures on physics from CAltech, a few audio tracks from Cosmos and a bunch of tunes so i should be able to entertain myself for some length of time

I think there's a freeware program called Handbrake that will allow you to rip DVD footage into mp4's. I have tried it before and it seems to do the job: http://handbrake.fr/
