Need wheel help

I've been out of town for over a month. My wife drops my truck off at the Chevy dealer to get an oil change and the seat heater fixed. For some reason they take it out to get lunch and wreck it. So now I have spent the last 3 weeks dealing with that and today they finally agree to replace all 4 wheels. I need to find a good set to replace the ones on my Avelanche.
Can anybody help me with some direction - what's good what to avoid?

Thanks - Yankey

I can't include a picture (my computer is a whole other story)

Stay far away from the Wheelpros stuff. They market under a bunch of brand names and they're all made in China. Many don't meet the DOT load ratings of the OEM spec wheels.

Personally I'd only use Weld's or something equivalent. American made and forged. The only drawback is Weld is untreated aluminum. Their chrome is nice but expensive. I had my last set chrome powdercoated- they look just like the day I put them on 3 years ago.

They may cringe at the price. Get a price on OEM wheels first. See how they like that one.

P.S. Tire Rack is a good shopping resource. They have a feature that you can see the wheel on your vehicle- in the color you own. They'll also tell you where the wheel was made.

Personally I'd only use Weld's

Aren't they in receivership too? I just tried to get some typhoons for my application and I was SOL. Told they went bankrupt and got divided up. Most of the forged wheels are no longer available.

I had the 8 Lug version of these on my Avalanche and I loved the look:

BUT...

They are part of the Wheelpros family which Chris warned about. I won't blanket endorse them, but I will tell you that I had the Maxx8 version on my Avalanche 2500 and I was towing 12,000 lbs. and I never had an issue with my setup. Albeit, I made sure my setup was as correct as can be with load ratings down to the wheels, tires, spaces, and even lug nuts.

Chris & company, what about Cragar? I know they are still around. Overseas junk or still quality?

Also, what about Mickey Thompson?

Is the Avalanche six-lug or 8-lug? Some wheels look good in 8 but bad in 6. Personally I've always like the look of the Weld Cheyenne, looks good in 6 and 8 lug.

Your original wheels OEM?

Most factory wheels have a clear coat that makes them easy to clean and take care of. Aftermarket wheels usually does not and require constant polishing.

Hadn't heard that about Weld. Doesn't surprise me with the typical American's Wal-Mart mentality of "cheap but looks good".

We had Foose wheels on it originally and I really liked them, but they don'tmake that model anymore. I am looking for a chome 20"x8.5" wheel. I was looking at some Giovanna (?) wheels and also some of the DUB wheels, but fear exacty what Chris and others are saying. I don't want to end up with some turds. The cost at this point is relatively moot since they have to replace thm with the at least the equivalent.

Thanks again
