JJ, I was going to say attendants gifts as well, sorry Tony they are a must
OK now Tony is going to really kill me, here are some more ideas of stuff to buy
- guest favors, I was on a budget and got little glossy boxes and filled them with wedding themed chocolates that I made myself, I put one at every place setting
- cocktail napkins with your names imprinted on them
- centerpieces
- a small bag of goodies to be placed in the hotel room of the out of town guests, again being cheap I got gift bags at the dollar store and bought things like bulk nuts, candies, trail mix, small bags of pretzels and chips, and couple bottles of water. Everything went in the bag along with a note thanking them for attending and a Wedding Watch newsletter which had an itinerary and a map to everything. We had a full weekend of activities planned for everyone. Friday night we had a big rehearsal dock party at the marina where we kept the boat. Saturday morning I had a ladies brunch at my home, and Ian and his friends took the out of town men on their boats. Sat evening was the wedding and on Sunday we had a barbecue at Metro Beach, Ian's friends brought their offshores and we kept all the boats on the wall by the picnic area. We got married in August and did not want to loose any boating weekends. We took our honeymoon during GM's Christmas shutdown and went to Sandals:biggrinjester:
Looking back on the whole thing I can't believe how much cooking and coordination of things I took on. My parents and sister live in NY so they were not able to help. My bridesmaids still give me chit about how I opted out of ladies night out and instead had them come over to help make all the chocolate favors. We were drinking wine and they were getting a little sloppy so they say I was bitxhin at them to work faster and neater:biggrinjester: I prepared all the food for the rehearsal dinner, had to pack coolers full of beer and wine. Besides what I made for the brunch my bridesmaids all brought a dish. I wound up a bit tipsy from all the champagne:ack2: I did not have a limo either and since the church and reception was an hour away, I rented a big white Lincoln and my sister and I drove ourselves to the church :driving: she drove while I applied French white press on nails. To save money instead of having the flowers delivered we picked them up on the way, which being tipsy I forgot about until we were about 15 min into our drive so we had to go back. We changed into the dresses at the church and a friend did my hair. We had to remember to take the unity candle floral arrangement from the church to the reception, we used that as the centerpiece at our table. We also had the trunk loaded with coolers of handburgers, hot dogs, all the sides and drinks. Just typing about it makes me tired. this summer will be our 19th anniversary.
