Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC

Hmmm, I guess you have never ordered a car or truck before. I ordered the last dually I owned and it was similiar to what you are suggesting. Took 6 or 8 weeks.

This could be the wave of the future in new cars. No dealer floorplans, workers paid by production, etc. This inevitably would increase the price of a car while increasing profitability as well! Look at all the jobs that would disappear!

It would kill a few dealerships, but as far as the factories, crossbadges already come offthe same line. the expidition and navigator , the liberty and the nitro. wouldnt chnage that at all

Because they're doing it right... I am glad since I am a Ford guy, I have ran all of my Fords to a ton of miles and had minimal issues, I am big on maintainence so that helps, my F-250 has 278,00 and going strong, and runs 15.0 in the 1/4 so far.. faster this summer..all y Explorers went to 180,000 ish before I sold them...on Explorer 4 now with 75,000 and have done nothing but a wheel bearing and one brake job.

I think that Pontiac should stay for the "younger" crowd, ditch Buick, hummer...and use Chevy for cars/suv, and GMC for the trucks, Cadillac for luxury.

My .02

I certainly wouldn't say Ford is doing anything "right" now opposed to GM (both are far better than Chrysler). The only reason Ford isn't borrowing money now is that they mortgaged absolutely everything in 2006 to build a bigger cash reserve. Otherwise, their performance is no better. Their volume is just as down, as is the whole industries. Further, their cash burn is the same or worse than GM's, and Ford is the much smaller company and should burn much less.

The fact the public thinks they are doing "so much better" because they leveraged themselves to the hilt when they could shows how little everyone really understands. This whole situation comes down to lack of revenue combined with lack of funding, Ford got very lucky (Mulally was a genius in that move) in maxing out their credit when they could.

Some experts predicted a long time ago that all cars would be ordered and dealers would go away. Thats when GM and Ford starting buying dealerships. The factories could never get it right. Although taking trades, getting people financed and servicing the vehicles looks easy, It turned out to be harder than they thought.. Most GM owned dealerships are broke or have been sold back to dealers. I do believe the dealer body is going to continue to shrink over the next three years, but it is very, very necessary. Some dealers are just sick of putting their retirement money into the check book to keep the store running. At a predicted 11 million cars sold in the U.S. its going to be next to impossible for any car company to be profitable in 09. Foreign or domestic.

I'd say your not familiar with the G8 GXP, best sports sedan under 40K, period.

If Pontiac can keep it and the Solstice that's enough for me.

Buick is lame now, except Enclave, but there next two cars coming are an incredible improvement and will surprise a lot of people. The LaCrosse coming this year is awesome, and the smaller vehicle after it will be as well.

2nd that.
