Anybody use a canopy or a carport for boat parking?

I am leaning toward only using the canopy in the spring, summer and fall, because my buddy will store the boat inside and it's a great deal.

i bought the 89$ 20ft shed and added some extra support with wood and 2 yrs later its still holding up well , this week i had at least 20 inchs of snow on it at times

Hey, welcome to the forum. Thanks for the post. :cheers2:

That must be the 10x20.

It's actually late by 7 days, $20.00 for DL and $20.00 for each registration. I have four plated vehicle. That's a 100.00 possible hit. I will be on time. :D

I've never been late anyway. They provide you with the date that these things expire. You just show up at the DMV with a check book. Not rocket science.

LOL.....From one Rocket Scientist to another.... I had my renewal notice right here......
.
.
....As of October 1 2009, A $20.00 late fee will be assesed to registrations & drivers licenses not renewed "within 7 days of expiration ".

The Party is 7 days BEFORE!!!!!:seeya:

Right.
I must have misread your earlier post as saying "late by one day."

Sheeeeeeeit....if your going to all that trouble and $$ of pouring a pad why dont you just build a stick/plywood extension on the garage.....at least you'd have some security.

Hmmm. House is concrete block with dryvit on top. I would have to dryvit the addition, Tie stick built to masonry or hire bricklayers, pull permits, tie in the roof, relocate the aerial utitlity drops....and it would have to be bigger than the existing garage. And the existing garage is security for my convertible.
A canopy may be the best for my 3 season needs. And my buddy's warehouse is 8 miles away each winter.

yeah I suppose....too bad you cant just use crushed limestone.....sucks to have to pour a pad just to put a tent up.

I could put the tent up without it. But I wouldn't be legally parked without pavement. Really, the concrete doesn't bother me. It will be nice to park on that and not have the boat on the grass.

I'd go in steps Fund. Make your pad, but make and place it so you have the required footings, then you can turn it into a permanent carport, then garage, someday if you decide to. That way you have everything covered no matter what you decide.

I do what I can w/what I got.... shrug.
Easy to heat. I sweat in there. That's why we've been UnderdogRacing for 25yrs:)

All my winter work is motors, rigging, controls and maybe some hull work while it's off the soon to be painted trailer.

Well, he's gone now. We have the former fire chief now that the last guy called a "gorilla." That makes sense, right?

Anyway.... I shouldn't complain, because I got away with six months on my lawn next to my driveway. I need to shoot some pics of the layout for planning ideas, but I think that I am pouring a pad that will become part of the driveway leading to the garage, if I end up adding one. Otherwise the pad will be cut off from the existing driveway and too far back in the yard. If I end up doing the garage, the pad will be part of the approach.

My neighbor poured a huge new section of driveway (he is now four cars wide with a four car apron) and they came sniffing around his camper the very week after I took the boat to storage. We think they were looking for the boat and found him instead. They looked at his driveway for 15 minutes and then drove away. :)

One of my buddy's had a great idea. I have a double lot and am on a corner. He said to take a driveway right past the other one and around the house and out the other street. Then build a 16 by 60 foot garage with doors on both ends. Pull the whole rig in the garage truck and all and then pull straight out. That's a lotta concrete, but I admire his creativity. :D I'd look like I was running a car wash. :D

Here is what I used. Farmtek by Clearspan. Farmtek.com. I bought the cheap Farm & Fleet version for $250. Sun will rot it out, lasted 2 1/2 years. I bought the Farmtek and it is guaranteed for 15 years. Material is much stronger and the frame is very heavy duty. After 1 year it still looks like new and snow slides right off. Guess you get what you paid for. Cost about $1100 with all the extra hardware you need. It is 12 X 20 and you have to go 12 wide for sure. Nice thing about this tent is it has a skylight peak which lets sunlight in the tent stays very warm when the sun is out. You wouldn't believe it.
