Hey, I get it all the time. "why do things cost so much, I could do it a fraction of that cost"

Rik:

That is the logic behind every back yard engine builder who puts his motors in his race boat and barely makes it to the starting line before grenading and winds up spending more money on repairs with less success than if he had bought quality, "overpriced" motors from a reputable source in the first place.

Your comment about "potato chip" construction could be at play here...or maybe it is a small, low slung, "stretched" 25-28 footer rather than a full size 30 foot cat like the current Skater.

As far as the comment about "established", reputable builders is concerned, there are very few of those. Sadly some of the best glass guys are among the worst businessmen and go from start up to start up. On the other hand, if is is someone who is currently successfully building boats with a history of satisfied customers, let's see the name and hear more about the product. If not, we already have enough "what ifs" to consider.

This well-established boat company wouldn't be Spectre, would it? If so, I could certainly see them pulling this off no problems. They already have a sophisticated operation in place ready to go.

Hey, like Peter says "you'll spend more $$ on your motors than you will on my boat" seems to come true every time.

I don't know if this was meant to be funny, but holy crap did this comment make me laugh! :sifone:

Not meant to be disrespectful at all, just an honest question as Mr. Conrad said the 32' was the best bottom Specrtre had and that the 30' and 36' didn't perform that well due to a large porpoise issue.

So logical question is a new 30 or the same 30?

Sorry Rik, didn't mean to put words in your mouth or infer inappropriately, but I have a few buddies that used to work at Dick Simon and this really, sincerely made me laugh based on some stories I've heard. Scott seems like a really pleasant dude and I wouldn't want to bust balls in an undue way...
