The Monroe County Sheriff's Office received $30,000 as part of the property and cash seized in a joint raid with federal officers.
Maybe about 10 times the size of the one in the old Cheech and Chong album!!!!!!

County law enforcement officers rounded up nine suspected drug dealers on Stock Island.
A vacation for four Virginia men ended abruptly when the free-spending host was arrested for using a stolen credit card. The four had gotten drunk and decided to take a road trip to Florida. The one man had said he would pay.

Henry "Father" Poole, 79 years old, had been recycling aluminum cans since he was 20. He said the extra money helped put his daughter through school.
Key West police, responding to a call, saw a woman hitting a man in the face. While questioning the man, the woman, who was his girlfriend, kicked him in the groin. She was arrested for domestic battery.
Steve Henson was installed as president of the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club at an installation dinner.

A man robbed a Key West bank and tried to hide his tracks by stealing a car, riding in a cab, changing his clothes three times and then setting out on foot. All the efforts failed and he was arrested within 30 minutes of the incident.
The Coast Guard Cutter Thetis was presented the Coast Guard Unit Commendation for its role in interdicting 35,000 Haitians who tried to reach the U.S. in the past six months after a coup toppled the elected president.

Dr. Ingham, county health officer, was in Carville, La., studying leprosy, which was considered endemic in the Keys.

The city and county held a special meeting because of the bubonic plague. The city commission and county commission agreed to jointly defray the expenses of a crusade to rid the city of rats. It was decided to offer 5 cents for rats and 1 cent for mice, dead or alive.
