McDonalds two towns over from me, manager kicked out a Women for not speaking English well. Guess she ordered a hot chocolate and got a coffee instead. Complained to the manger who told them to get out. My sister is a court translator in that town and its population is 60% Chinese, surprised the McDonalds staff isn't Chinese.

Hi Ho's! Little on/off rain this morning. So far August hasn't been all that great weather wise.

I can't understand anyone that has a strong accent. I ask them to repeat themselves twice, and after that I just smile and nod.
My ex-wife had a Aunt and uncle that were both deaf, but could minimally talk. I couldn't understand anything they said so I did the smile/nod thing. They could tell, and kept talking until I understood what they were saying.

My mid range is gone , from jet engines,saws , jack hammers, and tractors. If there is background music or a loud crowd....I can't understand anyone with an accent. I always wear ear protection, but those F-16's were shrill. I also once sat under an F-4E with both afterburners lit for about three minutes while it was chained down at the trim pad for engine tuning...that was a life affirming moment...I had to tell myself to breathe. I think my hearing was shot from playing guitar 6 hours a day when I was a teenager. Headphones and a distortion pedal.
My wife gets annoyed that I'm frequently asking her to repeat herself, and if she isn't facing me when she speaks, I can't hear chit.
The only plus is that it saves me on audio equipment.
I don't need the high dollar stuff, functional works for me.
