This Sat, I participated in the Ft Myers Offshore, end of season run to Hamilton Harbor,
Naples. Thank you Bob and the entire board for another day of safe, family friendly,
high-performance boating.

It had been a record year for FMO!

I ran a total of 168 miles, burned 73.8 gallons of 93 octane, for a average of 2.28mpg.

Bright blue skies and 80s!

Rick,

We missed you buddy. Everyone seemed to have a great time.

I think this was the first FMO event I have gone to, that you were not present for, in several years.

That was the first thing Amanda and I said when we got to Sanible Bridge..... Where's Rick? LOL. We missed ya! We hopefully will see you before next years FMO event in October.

a lot of outboards in that group, what kind of speeds are they running?

Sometimes it is hard to tell what other boats are running, especially if they are not along side of you. Everyone seemed to run well, and had a great time.

As one of the 3 outboard cat owners. I can tell you the 3 of us were right up with, the 50 cat and 43 cat. The first 5 boats to reach the lunch stop, were 2 inboard cats, and 3 outboard cats.

Hello to everyone I got stuck in ohio, but will be down with the
wife on the 12th for a month. Hopefully we can meet for a run
somewhere and then for a cold one to tarpon point or mantanzas.
Glad to hear everyone had fun !!!!
Rick

Yeah from the pictures i couldn't tell the speed either :p

What will your boat do in smooth water?

I've been in a 40ft skater, fresh water smooth as glass at around 135 (137.2) on the gps speedo in the back. The boat only had a half canopy and being in the back row was painful.

My 30/308 Skater actually runs better in slightly rough water, than dead calm smooth water. When I was doing prop testing my best was 102.5 on GPS.

In this past weekends FMO event, I held her to 90 in the gulf.

nice, those outboards can run. Are they much better on fuel as well?

Yes, just look at my post #1

"I ran a total of 168 miles, burned 73.8 gallons of 93 octane, for a average of 2.28mpg."

Alot of the efficency has to do with the hull (weight and hydrodynamics), and the power to weight ratio, of the 300XS, weight 505lbs, each.
