The Positive SVL thread

doesnt wil have some relationship with statement now as well?

Clearly he knows and is friends with Todd, Nick and Mark but I believe that is the extent of it. I am there (Statement) often and have watched the development process of the Cat and V hulls. Will is based in Sarasota area.

Actually Mark Spates built and designed the Phantoms . Will did build Under Destruction. It is very disturbing watching someone take credit for another mans work.
Steve

that's a cheap shot, even for you Steve
if you go back to 91, Mark was completing a 29 foot Phantom for himself with twin BBC, from a 1/2 built hull shell I layed-up for him this was his start in boatbuilding.......... I started Phantom in 87 and built my first boat back in 65 I was impressed with his mold making and he wanted to do more projects, so I brought a hull to him and I cut the step and aligned it where I wanted it and he finished the plug and made the hull mold for me. I was building two custom 73' hulls and the 34' Mr. Technology Phantom at the time ..I was glad to have this "extremely" talented [no-pun intended] guy sub-contracting the 30' canopied Phantoms and I would sell and rig them...... but Mark wanted to be in his own boat business and so he made his own molds of his own design and started EXTREME and we have been racing ever since and Phantom has always been building.
We are both wanting to come out with our NEW and improved SVL's, why don't step up and get one?
Do you have triangle stringers in your extreme?? how do you like my engineering......Will Smith Phantom

Steve thanks for all the info. Will that is all very interesting stuff and I like reading it but we gotta try and keep this thread positive.I know its not easy sometimes!!

Do not confuse cheap shots with stating reality.

Clearly I know you were building boats before Mark as you knew you back then and your original 29" pad bottom boat.

Mark has done much as have you.

But as you just stated Mark built and designed the 29' the original canopy boats. Which is exactly what I said.

I am sure you had regular input and some of your thoughts (more than just stringers) went into the boats design and MFG process.

I also know Mark brought an incredible amount of input into this process. He created the tooling etc. and built all the original raceboats. I may be mistaken but this was also his first endeavor building boats.

I am glad to hear you are building a new SVL it will be interesting to see it develop.

Question; What happened to the old "Scorpion" boat? I was thinking it went overseas, but heard it came back to the US?

OK ,I may have miss-spoken ( obama excuse :ack2:) as to how many did each bldr construct .

I actually (believe it or not ) only wanted to know how large the current SVL fleet could be .I do not care who built what ! . They are all Little monster,s .
This SVL (originally for some A ,class hulls ) class is HUGE !

I still would love to get back to finding out how many are available rite now .
( no I cannot afford one ,never pretended I could on my own )

SVL is the best OFFFSHORE class in my opinion , THEY RACE one another !Watching them chine ,and dive ,and tab to the moon in big seas is very very cool ,exciting racing .
They usually run very close , ( steve ,randy KW race example . )

(The BIG guns were fun when they had BIG numbers in EACH class )=gone for now .

SVL has the Boats , And The Personalities . ( a little push and shove here & there But Hey <.......

So I,ll ask again after all the re-painting ,journey,s to other lands ,and back again , ............................................................................................

How many existing ( could be legal ? ) SVL hull,s are out there ?

I am only ONE post away from:bump: so I hope I asked it right this time :cheers2:

( I really do Believe in this class ,It should live on)

It is without a doubt that the SVL class has the potential to be the biggest class in offshore.
