Here’s what we know…as it was already pointed out, Phantom is already building boats that are doing over the 90 mph mark with stock 525’s, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that a well known builder of offshore powerboats is claiming to be able to match that. Now, if you load the boat up with a full tank of gas and four fat chicks on a 100 degree day with high humidity and run a dinged up Bravo prop…yeah, you might not get to that 90 mph. So...is it safe? Is any open cockpit boat that size really “safe” at 90 mph? I would say a lot of that comes down to the drivers experience and ability. We know OL are well built boats and if you can pick one up for $150k, that seems like a pretty good deal, but I imagine once you start getting into the options, you are looking at closer to $200k. And I would imagine that there are plenty of people out there that will pony up that type of coin to get exactly what they want.
OK, so what have we learned from my above post?
1) OL is capable of building a 90 mph 28 ft boat (single 525)
2) Speeds will vary depending on set up
3) Boat will only be as safe as the driver
4) Don’t invite four fat chicks on your boat, it will slow you down
Lighten up everyone! :cheers2:
Would love to see a full canopy/svl version.
