Im sure they can do it- that barrier was broken in 06 with a 28 and a 525. - but that was a race boat very spartan inside.
Question is what kind of amenities would be in that package most specifically what kind of interior would you get with a 90MPH 525 boat?
an earlier thread insinuates the two may be exclusive.
I dont see a guy going for an OL 28 getting a 525 anyway.

Ok,My 1998 28zx,twin step with its 600+ hp motor bilt by tony at CMS Racing.Did 75 gps.Ok it was a heavy well bilt DONZI.It was the photo boat for the 1998 catalog.The twin scorpion model went 84 gps.There was a twin supercharged 28zx that went 100 on the gps.So it can be done,this OT must be a super light hull with no cabin race version to get 90 with a single 525.Just a note,I sold that donzi and now run a fast lavy tunnel boat so what do I know?

90 in a full cabin/plush 28 won't be easy. But all of the SVL's go 90+ with their 4750 weight and the single, sealed, stock 525's. Wonder what the OL 28 will weigh? For almost positive, the 5 step design should be a faster straight-line bottom design than the current SVL bottoms.

I'll tell you what you now know.
After these good people put their speed where there mouth is, you'll know where to go to buy a 90 mph single engined boat. Built by a great boat builder, that has proven before that they can squeeze good performance out of what they sell.

Not much. You ran a heavy decade-old heavy Donzi and now you run a tunnel boat and you're going to tell the OL guys they can't make a 28 with a cabin that runs 90?? Come on, you simply don't know what you're talking about so let it go

As for this tunnel its just a new toy.Lots of fun to drive like a go-cart.It handles a 2 foot chop but is not an offshore boat.Only goes mid 80,s on the gps so that OT should out run me:driving:
Heavy boat, 2 big steps vs. 5 small steps, and unless he was running a shorty the X is pretty deep as well. Apples and oranges. I have no doubt OL will hit the mark.

Thanks I thought I was going to be banned from the site.My plans for now is to keep the tunnel for a year or two.Iam running fast mercury racing outboards from now on.I want to buy a 28 skater or maybe another catboat like a DCB/eliminator/liberator/talon a 25-30 cat with twin outboards.I was disapointed with the speeds of my old donzi and I should have tried a imco shorty before I sold it.I still have a 1972 16 donzi baby outboard,thats for sale.Anyway I had that 28zx for 8 years and loved the way it ran the bay.I could run with the twin engine sunsation in big swells all day.Here is what I want http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195947 only $75,000.

Personal attacks are about the only way to do that. Intelligent conversations and disagreements, with reasons, are encouraged. I would not bet against OL though.....(I know they can do it with a light version because of the SVL's now.)

OL should easily tag their goal of 90 on a 525. Sunsation runs 82-83 on a single step 288 that is 4500 lbs. OL always seem to get that last 5 mph out of their hulls.
Any word on price? 200K for a 28 won't be warmly received........

missed that page......150K target could be a sale point but start loading up the options and it could be knocking on the 200K door.....
Chris/Brandon had two good points. Phil sells 20's for 150K so there is a market for it albeit a very small one and the biggest competition may be bigger used boats that are 9/10's for the same 150K.
