Steve I only have one thing to point out here buddy.......It's time for you to trade that ball cap in for a new one stud. I have an arsenal of them to choose from as I never wear them and everyone always gives me one!!!!

LOL thanks Sean I will take you up on that!

Gentlemen,
You are not only seeing how plugs are made, I never expected Steve being a "master plugmaker" would share ALL his secrets.

Very few plug makers have the knowledge and experience that Steve has. I am flabbergasted !
Later,
pepe @ pantera.

Funny thing about what you just posted about knowledge and experience is there really going to be that many next generation builders, or people willing to learn and do this type work other then being a person who wants to sit in front of a PC all day and not get dirty or just another suit.

I rember all this work and seeing the molds up in Delray, it was all first class. I look forward to seeing one of these babys in the water someday.

This is one of the best threads Ive read on here..Great info STEVE..could make thread of the year..:bump: I also like the fact that the 41 is being resurected again..and by a group of good guys that are easy to talk with and build one hell of a product..Kudo Pantera..

Thank You Jeff for your kind Words and and very Happy myself that Pantera is doing this now.

I have a great deal of respect for your marine knowledge, and political beliefs. Both are very refreshing. You mentioned Paul Haggerty, what ever happened to him?

That I do not have any Idea ,The last I heard was going through a divorce. That Guy also was a true master of selling on the phone, He treated me well except when Anglo,Donald and Myself split From PH factor and setup Quality Rigging down the street from Richie Powers next to Corsa. Then out of the Blue I get a call from him years later warning me about a guy I was going to do a project with and his house got shot up true or not I do not know this is Miami!

Working out the vent.

Ok I'm lost here? This is a new mold being built that is a replica of a 41 apache? Or was built since the dates on the pics are from 03... Pantera now has this mold & will be making them with the addition of steps in the bottom? Sorry for my ignorance...

Sir No, this is a bit of history from Thad Allen's Apache in 03, Thank you for looking.

Steve;

Did you "loft" the individual frames and cut them by hand or were they cut with a cnc router off of the cad file?

Roger

No on this job we used the corrected Cad Files less 1.125" for the Shell thickness and had Marine Concepts cut them for me, one day!! saving a week and only cost @ $2500.00 If I recall the amount correctly ,Now usually I loft full size, Always have, but here there was no space and I saved Time.

Thank you. Great thread!:cheers2:

I was training my guys as we went and the Key here is to remove "thinking" so everything was pattern cut. Good kid here so I taught him a great deal about the Epoxies and glass work.

LOL I had a Wolf Blazer 6" round knife also (For Peel Ply and breather ).He is cutting 6 layers of 170 there it takes all the "Fun" out of it and the Taped up fingers.

Getting there, The outside Glass work is done and ready for the strakes the Sp Epoxy and hardener system I was using had no real smell in fact the buildings owner (no boat building allowed) came in and asked what I was doing (laminating a entire 41' side with 5 layers of material no less ) I said gluing this stuff down with a epoxy glue, he smiled and left. sealed the Vacuum Bag and let it happily cure over night.
