Copenhagen

And here we have it, folks. $100B ANNUALLY. That'll stop it!

The planet may be saved after all, and it will only cost $100 billion.

Just as the Copenhagen climate summit appeared to be on the verge of unraveling, the United States Thursday announced its support of an annual $100 billion climate protection fund, the Associated Press reports.

“The US is prepared to work with other countries toward a goal of jointly mobilizing $100 billion a year by 2020 to address the climate change needs of developing countries,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said.

Included in the conditions for the US' contribution, Clinton demanded that China's emissions reductions be scrutinized independently and that 193 countries sign a climate deal tomorrow. This would keep the US and other rich nations on top of developing countries who want them to increase emission cuts, the AP reports.

Clinton revealed that the U.S. would not be decreasing emissions by 2020 beyond the 4 percent it committed to in 1990.

While she would not disclose how much the U.S. would be contribution to the climate fund, Clinton said there would be a fair amount contributed to the pot that would be made available in 2020. The finances will reportedly be raised partially by taxing aviation and shipping, as proposed by the European Union.

The protection of rainforests will be made a U.S. priority as the White House allegedly believes this cause will get more financial support from the public, Clinton said.

Emerging economies such as China, India, Brazil and South America must agree to be open to internal verification of international carbon limits under the plan.

“If there is not even a commitment to some sort of transparency, then that’s kind of a deal-breaker for us,” Clinton told a press conference.

China, the world's most polluted country, and India have reportedly been blocking the progress of negotiations in Copenhagen.

The United States' intervention is the first movement in the highly publicized conference whose talks appear to have stalled.

Because we understand that to have the greatest economy the world has ever known and to share that prosperity with most of the rest of the world we need to have massive amounts of energy at reasonable prices. Most of what Euro nations pay for fuel, electricity, etc. is because of massive taxes and regulatory fees from the government. And as we have proven time and time again (but you all won't listen) Government is best that governs least...:USA:

Oh, and as a side note- CO2 is not a pollutant :seeya:

Regarding your cleanest cars and Trucks,,nope not even by a longshot anymore, was a truth in the late 80´s and early 90´s but especially the Trucks ( especially the Diesels) are laughable to European standards nowadays.

What comes to fuels... wake up.

Your fuels have never been cleanest on any level.
Especially the Diesel is the same quality Russia uses and thats a fact, that much did I Study petrochemistry and work in a refinery while almost becoming a petrochemist... And the Gas..well... lets just say considering it clean makes me smile...
After 2 years I thought that´s not gonna be my life work.

pollutant or not but toxic nonetheless.

"CO2 is toxic in higher concentrations: 1% (10,000 ppm) will make some people feel drowsy. Concentrations of 7% to 10% cause dizziness, headache, visual and hearing dysfunction, and unconsciousness within a few minutes to an hour"

If you have to pay for it, or in some people's case... fluff a Nazi... it's not really freedom. :)

Sounds more like Communism to me..but to each its own...so much for freedom in the States too.

And You got more Russians than we do...wasn´t like that in the Reagan days.

And to be on the equal level of the rest of the western worldper capita it should be at least 3 times that...
That 3 times makes 300 bucks a year per person or so.

I´m not that keen of that either and nobody asked me about my opinion either on the matter.
But those are the prices we have to face sooner or later.

I like CO2.. in fact CO2 is my friend. It puts the bubbles in my Capt & Coke and in my beer. Even Lawarence Welk and Don Ho sang of the wonders of the "tiny Bubbles"

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
In the wine (in the wine)
Make me happy (make me happy)
Make me feel fine (make me feel fine)

Tiny bubbles (tiny bubbles)
Make me warm all over
With a feeling that I'm gonna
Love you till the end of time

So here's to the golden moon
And here's to the silver sea
And mostly here's a toast
To you and me

So here's to the ginger lei
I give to you today
And here's a kiss
That will not fade away

The term is "differential runoff" the difference between what the ground would absorb in its natural state vs. an impervious surface (roof, paved areas, etc.) To avoid the charge look into draining the roof water into a cistern and use it for irrigation. Water from parking lots would need to have an oil and grease separater.

That´s how we do it here..lead the pipes underneath the surface for a long stretch. No cisterns needed.
Water in parking lots do need oil and water separators yes just as any place which has a risk of oil spill ( Garages etc).

Normal Awareness like I said.

doesn't matter where the roof water drains to...even if it drains to the ground the theory is that it will run across the yard or parking lot until it eventually runs into a city sewer system drain....apparently that's what I'm paying for. I understand this may create a cost to the city...but $4K a year!!!

I have no idea what your taxes are in Finland but a corporation in the US pays 38% to the feds alone......by the time you add in State, City, Personal property, and all the other "fees" and taxes and I keep less than 1/2 of any profit made....If I don't make a profit at all I don't have to pay some of those taxes but other taxes as well as any "fees" must be paid anyway. The kicker, I have a few salesreps that have no responsiblilty for any of this yet based on the volume of sales they bring in, make more than I do. (not complaining, I need their services and they are paid accordingly)

22% sales tax plus of 29% of the dividends paid out and thats it.
Socialsecurity insurances and other cost adds about 75-80% on top of the wages of the worker.
After all the Fees we´re about on the same level.

I don't get it...we take enough oil out of the earth...whats wrong with putting a little back in?? Even Good friends replace the beer they come over and drink every once in a while....

If they were tortilla chips with salsa and bean dip..you might raise the global temp by a degree even!!! Please eat them while repeatedly driving around the block.. it's cold out!

Our temps are in the 0´s right know...this low is more than exceptional....I ain´t getting out..just trying to learn some riffs with the guitar and fool around ;)

Dark Rye Bread and pea soup "works wonders" too....

Download a proggie called "powertab" then look for the tabs you want. really nice program with a lot of tabs available.

Wow, I didn't know how bad they had indoctrinated you all over there . No wonder you are ready to pony up all that cash for a "cleaner" environment.

And BTW : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_toxicity

Anything can be toxic in enough concentration. CO2 is such a minute part of the atmosphere that it can do no harm and is NOT raising global temps.

FOLLOW THE MONEY, man and his CO2 is not the cause of climate change.

i call b.s. on that one. the vw jetta diesel was banned from our market before being changed to meet us emission standards

You may call it what you want but Name a Single Big Rig from there that comes even close to Euro5....even the fuel consumption is off by 10% even for Euro3.
Since when was Jetta a Truck for chrissakes ?

And Do you think the Diesels just cruise by the emissions overhere ?
Get a Grip.

offtopic

The road to Key West had me flashbacks of being in Russia...it was that bad honestly and the roads in general was a bit shocking. Hopefully the turnout there will be better next year.

Regarding the others I don´t care as I have much closer LeMans, Monaco and Nurnburgring plus a More than a Handful of Globally renown racetracks and racecourses. ..there´s enough excitement in my book.

Plus next summer hopefully 2 Class1 races within 400 miles plus P1´s with Roslagsloppet.

Next...

If an El Camino is a truck, I'll allow the Jetta. :)
