Chicks, Chips & Boats

Today I am reminded why I don't drink during the week any more.

Ashamed to say but got in at 3AM; at work by 4:45AM ande still would melt the tube for the breathalizer at this moment.

Strange feeling about Straight Jackets passing- eating me up for some reason even without ever meeting the man. Feel like us on the CC&B thread are "tight". Maybe it is his age- I'm 37 as well. Don't mean that as casual as it sounds by any means- like I said it is eating me up enough to meantion here..

I hear you Mark. Rob is 37 also. My heart hurts for his family. I couldn't imagine losing a child.

And, I'm so glad I don't feel like you do today LOL! :)

Hey Mark, I think your feeling the same as I am. Being a guy we kind of feel that we're indestructible and nothing will ever hurt us, then seeing someone our age that we know thru the board here pass on it makes you fell human and gets you thinking maybe some thing can happen.

Well put. I've never met or talked to him, but it hit home. Way too young:(

Brooks I can't believe you had a 66 vette stuck in storage for all these years, it a beauty, is that picture from after they cleaned it up. I also can not believe you are you going to miss the party, after all you are a SOS Patron, that should at least get you a free beer or two.

Mark you are not alone this hit a lot of us hard, I have thought about it constantly since I got Mike's email. I especially think about how Sr is doing. It would always be hard to loose a child, but their relationship went way beyond father and son, they were like best friends, like twin brothers, their boats were shared, friends were shared, activities shared, projects shared and still unfinished. I am extremely close with my mom, but our lives are not intertwined like Brian and his Dad's were. I have to imagine this has left a hole the size of a mac truck in Sr's heart and spirit. This made me think of Ian's dad who has always been a pompus difficult man that no one in the family has been close with. Ian, myself, his sister, and his nephew had a fight with him this past Memorial Day and none of us have spoken with him since. Such a contrast in father son relationships.

I am OD'ing on Apple Pie, the Golden Age club in Waterford has a four day long apple pie sale they bake them al in their kitchen and sell as a fundraiser for the senior olympics. I bought two on Wednesday and ate almost the whole crumb top one myself, now I just had a huge piece of the flakecrust one, and I have to go out and pick up two more that I odered. I am immediately going to freeze those to take to NY for the holidays. It's amazing they have dozens of volunteers that bake them in bulk and will sell over 900 this year.

Well take Pat Reiter passing a little over a year ago boating. The search went on for 6 days until he surfaced; ironically the same guy that rescued the other 3 on the boat found Pat. He was local to me, he worked on my props, close to my same age, we've drank way too many but never enough beer together, etc but some weird reason Brians passing has been on my mind more than Pats was. Just weird I guess.

I think it's his age and quite honestly, the way he passed. Truly, truly sad to think that someone was killed the way he was.

Good point. I kind if hid the details in the back of my mind preferring not to think about it all but your post makes a lot of sense.

That picture was taken a couple years ago when I changed storage locations, I'll take some today. I've had the car since 1980ish took it completely apart and redid everything drove it a couple times and put it away, but never planned it would be 20 plus years. Sorry won't make the party but I hope to have the boat down there and stop in during the week. Hopefully I'll get to meet you and Ian. Is Kirby coming down?
