Chicago: A world class Olympic city?...

Thanks for wasting more tax dollars Mr. Obama. One trip wasn't enough over there with the first lady. he had to fire up AirForce 1 again and get over there himself a day later!!

It was "unprecedented" that a US President went to the IOC. I guess that it's "unprecedented" that it didn't sway the vote as well!!:willy_nilly::rofl::rofl:

He'll find a way to blame it all on Bush and/or FOX news...

I wonder how shocked he is when he doesn't get his way?

I'm not from Chicago and couldn't stand the weather, but I will say that I applaud the Presidents efforts in what was apparently a long shot.

"A Shocking Development!!!"

More from the kool-Aid drinking media....

Chicago is out — in one of the most shocking defeats ever handed down by the International Olympic Committee. President Barack Obama's appeals for his adopted home town fell on deaf ears Friday.

Chicago had long been seen as a front-runner and got the highest possible level of support — from Obama himself. But he also only spent a few hours in the Danish capital where the vote was held and left before the result was announced. Former IOC member Kai Holm said that the brevity of his appearance may have counted against him.

The short stopover was "too business-like," Holm said. "It can be that some IOC members see it as a lack of respect."

Clinton would have closed the sale.
I am not sure how... but he would have.

Oprah should have paid the freight on this one.

Maybe the IOC turned down Chicago as a way to send a message to other politicians that the IOC is a non-political entity.

Bwaaaaaahahahaaaaaaaaaaaahahaaaaa! F'n losers! Thank GOD we didn't get it! We already have the most corrupt political system in the country (and NOW the presidency!)...the Olympics would have resulted in even the bribers getting bribed! Freakin' Daley tells the news papers and news channels that Chicago taxpayers would NOT...read N-O-T...be held accountable for any overruns the Games might cause...then went to Copenhagen and assured the IOC that Chicago's taxpayers would HAPPILY pay any additional costs! Duplicity? NO! That's just the way things are done here! I am so happy I moved out of Cook County, and soooo so happy to see Obama and Daley with egg on their faces. BTW...check out the headline on Drudge regarding Obama and the Olympics: "The Ego Has Landed". HA!

Funny thing.

Chicago was picked as one of the two finalists before this week. All along they figured it was a tossup between them and Rio. Obama and Wife go to the event, reaction, they are lowest vote getter of all - first city out.

Maybe the sacrifice Michelle talked about they made to go over and hype Chicago wasn't perceived as much of a sacrifice by the OC voters.

In her speech in Copenhagen... Michelle Obama said, ""As much of a sacrifice as people say this is for me or Oprah or the president to come for these few days..."

Boy, they really had it tough....

And think...it only cost us taxpayers a MILLION DOLLARS IN AV-GAS TO GET THE OBAMAS THERE! Jay...anybody home Jay? I need an explanation as to why this is not leading to an immediate media crucifixtion...

Hate to say iy but I'm kind of glad we didn't get it. I'd hate any further embarassment. Imagine thes killings going onduring the olympics. Heaven forbid an olympian.

I know where you are coming from and I can't disagree. But it would have been good for any US city to have the olympics and especially the build up work. We need the work. Hate to say it, because lives were lost... but even Munich survived 1972.

Meanwhile... do you want to wager that more kids die at the hands of other punks in Chicago or Rio? ;)

But all in all... I share your disdain for the whole circus that was the O and O Chicago show. We'll have further embarassment either way. The statesman and the Mrs. do it their way. Whether it's bum rushing the IOC or grabbing the queen of england. And that's just the protocol issues.

Wait until somebody tries to hug the Pope. :)
