For the outboard guy's - Mercury 300 Verados?

I'd like to hear what Catastrophe says about his. Hmmm 2 strokes? Don't want the oil , smoke or noise.

AS for performance compared to something else..I don't really have any input. Though the med boat I was on in OC ( a big CC) had trip verados, they were incredibly quiet, very well mannered and seemed to run strong. After the race we did a good run up the beach a ways and back at a pretty good clip and the owner was more than hapy with them. he boat did have the computer controlled twin throttle setup to control trips, it worked flawlessly but the added complexity in the marine environment could possibly be just another thing to go wrong... we also towed one of the SVL's in from the course (a several mile tow) at low speed with no issues what soever...

I've heard of some issues with the superchargers with saltwater use... I've been on boats with both and I like the quietness and power of the Verados.

Anybody know anything about the Suzuki 300 4 strokes?

I'm not sure if they are the same technology but my future FIL has a Triton 2486 w/DF250 he loves.

2005ish with 300ish hours with 0 issues. Not a performance boat and he doesn't run the snot out of it but kind of big, tall and heavy none the less. 6 year warranty he hasn't had to use once and said he will never buy Merc power again..

Last thing I broke? Prop shaft @ 120ish hours... Not sure if they are the same part (between V & XS)?

Thanks for the information! I'm googling and researching like crazy and the Verados just aren't adding up. I've always been a Mec guy but I just wish somebody would sell me on the Verado's. It's looking like Suzuki 300's now. Anybody else have any information on Verado's or Suzuki's?

I have a buddy with a 21' gambler bass boat with a Suzuki 250ss. He loves it. LAst time I was on his boat he had around 225 hours and hadn't touched it. He had a Verado on his last boat and had to replace the powerhead, but it was under warranty. He is getting a new boat this spring and said it will be another Zuki.

I have triple 275 verados on my 34 fountain cc and love them. Merc did or does have problems with their fsm switches but they have been under warranty. stick with gas with no ethanol and you should not have any problems. Suzuki ??? Buy american forget the japs.

here they are and willing to deal. The motors have alway been inside a climate controlled garage and have the shipping crates. Yes I know there are 250's but price 3 new 300's and see how they are going for today.

I had one of the first set's of 300's that were built , put over 100 hrs on them , never had a bad moment, they were great power for a 6500lb boat and got good fuel burn at 4-4500rpm, about 2mpg, after that it droped off a little, but the engines were great , I did not like the cost of oil changes to keep them in warrenty but that just goes with the teritory ! 6yr warrenty from Merc was tough to pass on , they are heavy, make sure ya get the CG correct on your hull when they are set up , all in all they are a very good package , good luck .
