I can see buying Farve's , but Vick's ??

Favre and Vick are among the summer's hottest-selling jerseys

By MJD

A large number of Minnesotans are excited about the arrival Brett Favre(notes) and his gunslinging ways. Those who aren't busy spray-painting their goats are out buying #4 Vikings Favre jerseys, making it the NFL's top-selling jersey from April 1st through August 28th.

CNBC's sports business wizard Darren Rovell has a list of the top-selling jerseys in the NFL. Favre is on top, Jay Cutler's(notes) new Bears joint is second, Troy Polamalu(notes) is third, and checking in at number four is the world's most popular dogfighting quarterback, Michael Vick(notes).

That Vick jersey must be selling at an insane pace. Keep in mind that this list covers April 1st through August 28th, and Vick has only been an Eagle for the last 14 days of that period. That's a mighty sales surge. Of course, Vick's jersey also has the unfair advantage of being popular couture at both NFL stadiums and dogfighting pits around the country.

What POS would buy a Vick jersey

Every brother that thinks he got "wronged" by the system and "The Man". :ack2:

I met him a few times in ATL, he was a POS for more than the dogs. He was THROWN OUT of Barnes n Noble while doing a CHARITY EVENT cause he was an azzhole. :cuss:

I'm getting one.

Here's why:

He was my favorite player before he went to jail, and I really enjoy watching him play.

He did 2 years for killing dogs while Donte Stallworth does 30 days for killing a human f.king being. He has more than paid his debt to society.

Not to mention, way, way more dogs have been saved since the issue of dogfighting has been brought to national attention from the underground by Vick's stupidity.

Just so you know, I'm a dog lover... And I don't really care if he's an as$hole in bookstores, I'm not trying to date the scumbag.

Entitled to your opinion.

So am I and I have 1st hand experience. Once a POS, always a POS.

I don't root for any azzholes.

Barry Bonds can rot in hell. Not for steroids, for being and arrogant *****. So much so that he lied to Congress and his azz is gonna pay.

I hated the Eagles before, but now I hate 'em worse than New England.

I agree with cash, your opinion that's fine. however if society allows these people to make millions upon millions and be criminals where is the bar set. You certainly couldn't get a job with a fortune 500 company with a felony arrest record, why should the NFL allow it. set a precedent and say no arrest records in the NFL, see if they act differently. make them be the exception and use sportsmanship in daily life as well as on the field.

Great point.

I totally agree, but until that precedent is set, there's no reason this guy shouldn't be allowed to play.

Personally, I think what he did was morally reprehensible and disgusting. But like I said, he did his time and now he has the opportunity to become a force for good in the world in some capacity (hopefully.)

I like him on the field- that's where it stops.

I'll respectfully disagree.
The man CHOSE to get involved in dogfighting, to make a buck (I assume), and to satisfy some sick pleasure. Killing dogs because they didn't perform in the fight doesn't show much for an animal lover.
Almost three yrs ago (Oct 20) I had to put my dog down, I held him and I was bawling like a 6yr old as he was given the injection.

The comparison to Stallworth is not the same, Stallworth did not make a decision to kill a man, he had an accident, and made a bad judgement call by driving while over the legal limit.
Note, Stallworth's penalty from the NFL is worse than Vick's.
I'm not even a football fan, and rarely will I even watch a game.
I don't see the significance of it. Spending an afternoon or evening watching a game, and Monday morning it has made absolutely no impact on my life aside from a few wasted hours.
And buying the merchandise, I'm just lining some guy's pockets that is already overpaid for playing a GAME. Ain't gonna happen from this dude.

As far as being an a$$hole in a bookstore... Well, I can be an a$$hole at the grocery store, but it's usually due to some one else being an a$$hole at the store. And, I wasn't at the store for a CHARITY event. (Cash, I'm of the assumption that Vick was there as a paid celebrity - please correct me if I'm wrong in my assumption).

Being a dog lover and supporting this guy seems like something of a contradiction to me.

I agree that he has served his sentance, and is free of debt to society. I guess I should instead be more upset that the NFL has decided to "re-hire" him - strictly for monetary gain on their own part. There is no consideration for morals or ethics that any other employer would consider a part of the type of "employee" they would want to have - especially in a "leadership" role such as QB.
Personally, I think he should be banned from the NFL for the felony, and have to find a job just like everyone else that has a felony on their record. But, he's likely not qualified to do much else.

Cash you hate the Eagles more than the Patriots...really?

I personally have a hard time believing anyone could hate anything, let alone a team, more than one could hate the Patriots (cheaters). :sifone:

Did you know it was Vick's own family members that turned him in for dogfighting? See what happens when black people don't stick together.

You know what happens when white people don't stick together.......

Barack Obama

It's a tough call. I really disliked the Eagles before due to the "urban street" mentality of the team. And Donoavn McNabb IS overrated. RUSH WAS RIGHT !! :-)

Now they added THUG #7 and they surpassed the Cheatriots.:ack2::boxing_smiley:
