Chicks, Chips & Boats

family is finally gone, 5 extra people in my house for 6 days is not something I want to do again in the near future. Funny how I look forward to it and then can't wait till they leave. I love my family just wished we lived closer so the visits could be more often and not involve everyone sleeping and eating all their meals my house. Of course the cold weather did not help, we only ate on the deck 2xs and went in the ski boat twice. Ian never got to take the menfolk out in the BT which which was on the agenda. I felt like I cooked and wiped up the whole time, plus spent a ton of money. I guess I now know what it's like if you are a parent with 5 or more kids. I went through paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, trash bags, milk, cereal, bread, coffee and snacks in record time. I am not used to having to think about three meals a day.

Do any of you guys have a group of relatives that stay for a week, if so do they pitch in and help or give you any money for groceries. My parents are overboard generous, but my sister's husband is the opposite.

Know exactly how you feel....two nights is plenty then they need to get the hell out.

Benjamin Franklin said: "Houseguests are like fish. After about three days you must throw them out." :D

.........or they stink:D Seriously I love my family just wish a years worth of vists were not crammed into 6 days under my roof. BTW I get to pay them back, in three weeks I am going to NY for my Mom's 80th birthday and will be staying with my sister:reddevil:

Fund and Jann and anyone else are you interested in doing the LEOPA poker run out of Monroe with us on the 17th.

Tracy, Ian and I will be with about 7 LEOPA boats for a long Charelvoix weekend the second weekend in August, around the 7th, we arrive Thursday and leave Monday morning, we have slips reserved at the downtown marina. Most of the boats are between 38 and 47' I hope you will be around, anything you know of going on then?

I don't think I could handle family visits at our home for that long. :ack2: You are a better person than I Donna.

We will be in the islands for the Barge Party the weekend of July 18th. I did hear ThunderFest was that weekend, but haven't heard too much about it. I don't think anyone of around here is attending the LEOPA run.

We are done poker running for the next month or so. We've done two, the last one to Lorain was a big one. We might do one or two local ones, but that's it. We do need to plan one in MI next summer. We'd like to check that out.

The barge party is in Sandusky Bay over near Johnson's Island. There's a web site with coordinates, but I understand you can't miss it. This will be our first. Sunday is not the party, Saturday is.

Happy Friday Gang!

Not much going on for the weekend thankfully. After spending the last two weekends in the islands, we need to stay home and get some much needed rest. :biggrinjester:

We have a fish fry tomorrow but other than that, it's roll with the punches.

TGIF is right, they have me doing call reports daily, they are tracking me, urg less time for posting, we were going to go to Lake St Clair on the BT but decided to stay here this weekend. Tomorrow during the day I am going to a big art Fair in Plymouth MI with some girfriends and the evening we are having a float and boat on the lake, we get on our tubes with our cocktails and make the guys tow us slowly around the lake for a while, they raft off and order pizza. Hope everyone else has some good stuff planned.

I'm going to see what's up with SBI. Otherwise I won't see them until Key West and that's really not a fair comparison.

You have fun.....

WOW...what a week. Three separate wrecks happened in front of me in three days. In 20 years prior to this I seen two. Sunday Morning a women rolled her mini van multiple times in the median in PA. Very very lucky. She had her seat belt off and was try'n to find a DVD that had fallen off the passenger seat as she passed our lead truck. She drove off a curve on I-80 and over corrected when she hit the grass, sliding sideways into a 4' berm which rolled her at least four times. She was lucky to not get ejected and her two girls in the back were lucky the 13" TV they were watching (wasn't strapped down) didn't do serious damage as it bounced around during the crash.
Monday evening a flatbed rig hauling steel sewer pipe ran off I-81 in MD into a group of trees. What the trees didn't do to the cab, the pipe coming off the trailer finished off. All that was left of the truck was a motor in a frame hooked to an empty trailer. Pieces of the cab were scattered every place and the pipes from his load were scattered about 40-50' beyond the front of the truck. Very nasty crash. I was go'n the opposite direction and came up on it just as the dust was settling from impact. There were people already stopped on the other side, run'n towards the wreckage as I started to stop, so I continued on. The driver didn't survive:(

BTW....did I mention it's nice to be home:D

It was a beautiful night out on the lake!!! 3 of us went up the Chagrin River and had dinner at Trader Jack's, headed back right around 9:10PM with just enough daylight left to get us back to our port area. It was sooooooo nice, flat and warm on the water we rafted on the lake until 12:30 this morning.

What a great evening.
