Chicks, Chips & Boats

Morn'n everyone. We hit 77 on Sat and this morning........it's snowing:(
Officially lost our "empty nester" status this weekend. Step daughter and her boy friend were renting from a friends dad and apparently he wasn't pay'n the utilities all winter and the power was cut. Doesn't look like he's gonna get it turned back on anytime soon........sooooo they are go'n to be boarding with us with very strict rules........her in her room and him in the guest room. So last night was spent moving their belongings in, including his fish tanks. He's into tropical fish and these tanks aren't small. Between them and Erik and his girl friend over last night, the dinner table was pretty full. Will be having a family meeting tonight to get this little arrangement worked out. This is almost getting a redneck flare to it....guess we'll see how this all works out.

BTW...celebrating 13 years of wedded bliss today.

Happy anniversary sweetie! Rob and I will be celebrating 6 years on Friday. Sounds like it's time to bam?! :biggrinjester:

Sorry to hear about the snow. That blows. It's raining hard here and storms are moving in, but at least it's not snow. We had 71 on Saturday.

Sorry to hear no more empty-nesting. Set the rules and hopefully things will work out. Are they looking for another place soon?? My son has lived with us the last two years. He lived with his dad before that because he wanted to graduate from his HS and I lived further away. So when he graduation he moved in with us. Don't really see him a whole lot, but it does force us to wear robes in the morning, stuff like that. He leaves for the Air Force in Sept and will be back in Feb. I told him he had 6 months to find his own place when he comes home in Feb. He'll be 21 and it's time he gets his own place. I love my kids to death, but it's time to start your own life.

It will take awhile for me to feel all warm and fuzzy about this. Time frame and expense will be hashed out tonight. When it was just Lori and I, the furnace is turned down all day etc, etc. Between half the house lit up and these over sized fish bowls, can't wait to see what that's gonna do to our utility bill.

Well, they become liable for their part. How old are they?

I know what you mean about expenses. Our water went up only slightly when Corey moved in. My food bill, now there's another story.

Andrea is 19 and Greg......I think 21. Greg was layed off a couple months ago, but looks like he may get a job with Menards. He applied for a part time spot they were run'n an ad for, but they interviewed him for a full time spot instead. He seems to be an ok kid, from the little I've seen of him at the house in the past, but it kinda sunk in on the way to work this morn'n that a guy we know little about is gonna have full run of the house while we're not there.

Ouch. :(
That would freak me out.

I'm sure they're thrilled with the fact that they have to sleep in separate rooms. Not easy being a parent with older kids at times.

We'll see how things go. I'm sure they'll be on their best behavior for the first couple of weeks. I will give the kid credit. They were fish'n in the backyard Saturday and he filleted all the perch they caught. Erik came home this weekend toten an old 5 hp outboard that he found on Craig's list for his canoe. Greg got it run'n for him and they were play'n around in the channel with it when I got home, so I guess he's got some mechanical skills. Mind you, this doesn't mean I'm gonna cut him loose in the bilge of the Scarab.:sifone:

Uh oh.
He has mechanical skills= didn't you used to have a (enter missing tool here)???
:)

Have that problem now. My tools always seem to be vacationing in a different spot around the house instead of going back home to the drawer they live in:(

I had to tell my buddy to stop trying to put them away. Just leave them in a pile on the bench and I will do it.
Yesterday I found an oil filter wrench in my electronics toolbox. I pulled it out and was "wtf???" Whatcha gonna do? :(

lol...mine never seem to even make it that far. It's nice that the wife wants to try and tackle something herself, but still......they need to at least make it back to the work bench. I waste way too much time looking for tools.
Protocol in the guyrage is not to be taken lightly:biggrinjester:
