Chicks, Chips & Boats

I just realized I forgot to tell you guys the outcome of my showing on my condo. I had a girl come back and look at it twice. Unfortunately the second time she brought her mother.

About 2 weeks ago a condo caddy corner to mine went back up on the market. It had been priced at about 81k - they lowered it to 50 dollar below mine. Grrr.

Anyway, when this girl came back to look at mine, they looked at both of them. Her mother likes the other one better because it has new carpet (which is cheap) and a fireplace. My realtor is reminding them that I have a washer and dryer and that it's a wood fireplace not gas. That means hauling wood up 3 flights of stairs every time you want a fire.

It just irks me that it's the girl's mother, not her, that likes the othe one better and the other condo couldn't have just waited but had to go back up on the market right after I put mine up! Grrrr! My realtor also said we'd throw in a carpet allowance or something. She's supposed to make up her mind on Sunday and make an offer on one of the two of them.

This has just been irritating me all week since I heard it!

You know I live in the Detroit area the first thing I thought is why is he saying
General Motor's people:)

Of course with Ian working there I am almost always thinking and worrying about the company. Today seems like a good news day for us, On Tuesday Ian was put back on overtime for the next few months. 10 hour days Mon-Friday, then today they asked him if he could he put in 8 hours this Sat.cha Ching, that's 12 extra hours of pay:sifone: His group has gotten pretty small over the last few years, they design the stamping dies used to build cars. He is working on dies for the Volt or one of the fuel efficient cars and they are in a hurry to get it finished. Also they just said on the news that GM told the government that they don't need any money for March, yeah their cost cutting has started to kick in. GM also told everyone where Ian works that when they are not on overtime they will work Mon-Thursday for 10 hours a day, everyone is happy about that. Less money on gas and more time to work on his other projects. The noon news reports stock rallying, who knows for how long, but the news has been so depressing around here that every bit of good news is a welcome relief.

Isnt homeowners insurance a little higher if you have a fireplace? I know that was one of the questions they asked when I got insurance and the agent said good when I said no fireplace .... but maybe he was just happy I wouldnt be playin with real fire :)

Elizabeth that sucks, I would much rather have a washer and dryer than a wood burning fireplace. I do wash several times a week all year long. Does that other condo have room for a washer and dryer. Most people like the look of a fireplace more than they like dealing with the fire. Have you been in to see the unit.

That's what I thought about the washer and dryer. The other condo has room for it, but it doesn't come with them. From what I understand this will be this girl's first place so it isn't likely that she already has a set.

I've seen the other unit through pictures but not personally. I specificially chose a condo without a fireplace because it makes the living room bigger (fireplace is on an angle in a corner). I just need to find some one else who realizes that and wants it.

I guess either way this will be good. If the other condo sells, then it's out of the way. If not, then she made an offer on mine and hopefully it sells.

I had a similar situation years ago when I had a new spec house sold to a young couple. Then the "Bank of Dad" came by to look and decided they needed to buy something bigger.

Good luck. I'm sure the right buyer will come along soon.
