55 MPH Group in Poker Runs

55 MPH +- sounds great. here the problem. At least problems I had.

Not staying with the fast group, you loose some photo ops. OK.. no big deal. The choppers should make a point of covering the slower group. But they don't. Don't know why. (actually I do know why).. I been cut from many Vids.... but the worse part is when I'm in the back and taking a nice comfortable run.. I got lost. Last year at Sarasota, no GPS coord's were provided. I was wondering with the Muscle Fountain boat all over the Bay looking for the lunch stop and ended up at a ... well.. hmm.. a private party... Private party for awhm.. well... swingers? I think that's what you call them.. Besides, It would take me weeks to figure out my GPS. :leaving:.. So I run with my remote navigator Lenny.

An organized 50-60 MPH groups would be great.

See you at Ft. Myers. Lenny. Don't forget your GPS. :sifone:

:eek:OMG...that's funny!!

Good idea. Even thou my barge will hit 80, I usually run 50-60. Don't have time ta be tear'n things up and I want the motors to last longer then 150 hrs. Our season is too short as it is.

HEY PAL

Thanks for doing that for me without embarrassing me.

Now I can go on a PR with 12 people on board.

Thought I was going to just carry the water and sandwiches this year.

I figured Carl was thinking about YOU when he descided to go back this way :)

PS,I'll have the corned beef on rye with mustard please :26:

Glad to see this idea accepted so well.

Having run Poker Runs at both 85 and 55, I'll take 55 any day. No matter what boat you're in, there is a big difference between 55 and higher speeds. For me, as soon as I get to 70, it becomes a serious matter, rather than a relaxing ride. Sure, everyone llikes to make a quick blast from time to time, but sustaining those speeds all day long is stressful. I spend too much money on boating not to enjoy it.

NJPPC has had it right for a decade, and was rubbished by others early on. I think that it's great that the concept is getting so much support now. Next thing you know, people will start planning raft-ups and social activities into Poker Runs, and we'll actually get to know all these people that we've been running with all these years.

Hmmm - Maybe that's not such a great idea after all. Could be a rough crowd..... :ack2:

Should work out well for you. Sounds like you may give Vic a run for his money in everyone's favourite category this year then, no? :sifone:

For the past few years Thr Richmond power boat club has had two starts, over 60 and under. I generally run upper 60's to 73 or so, and am one of the tail end of the first pack. and we all have fun and it is safe.

55 mph class......theres always a 55 (closer to 60) mph class.......theres like......me.....the guy with the Scarab Panther, the guy with the 25 Baja, the guy with the 27 Baja, the 25 Checkmate, the guy with that old Mistress.......

most of you guys are just so far ahead you dont realize there actually is one......!!haha

Our local PR has an optional extra card stop at the local rafting bay. At that point of the day there's a couple hours to kill B4 cards are due in, so most of the runners raft up for awhile B4 head'n in.

I always run like this. Not only does it keep you away from the "brand new" fast guys who demonstrate how good they drive, you also don't have to worry about guys tying up to you totally unprepped with tampons for fenders and no lines at the stops. The best reason is the girls are more relaxed and less worried about hanging on and mysteriously their clothes kinda fall off. Not saying that is my biggest priority..... wait yes it is!!

Probably also a good idea since, during these times, some people might be downsizing - at least temporarily. And like many have pointed out, slower classes for the older boats...the "lead-sled" set [like me]...allow folks to take it easy and not have to worry about breaking their stuff. Or scaring the crap out of their wife... ;)

Same old stecz

He always wants to be in the rear in his personal life or a boatless poker run.:biggrinjester::biggrinjester:
