Motor damages during shipping ???????

If you PAID to have them crated by the shipper, then there is no excuse for them to not put the extra bolts in. Freight companies have insurance for this kind of thing and it should be no problem for them to make things right.

If this guy does much business in the boating undustry, he would be smart to man up.

Wow, that sux... I hate when I hear stuff like that cause then most of the good guys also get a bad rap because of a few that never learned that Haste makes waste.. I agree with saying wtf to trying to hold that in with one bolt on each side of the stand.. Thats just crazy for an extra 2 minutes of time a lot of greif may have been avoided.. I hope it all works out for you Bill.. Jamie

Thnx Jamie
Funny thing is there were XTRA charges for a BBC crate and Heavy duty, xtra charges for packaging, xtra charges for putting the motor inside the crate (was explained to me that it takes 2 guys the better part of a day to secure the motor down, and extra charges to reweld legs & supports on my stands to make ithem more sturdy ... BUT WE LEAVE THE BOLTS OUT ... I say BULLCHIT :sifone:

Everyone makes dumb ass mistakes sometimes. whats important i think in the service industry, is that you own up to it and make it right, even if you lose your ass at least you wont lose your integrity.

I think thats kind of the problem with the world right now is too many people have forgotten about "personal responsibilty" my .02

Exactly and i do believe the owner is responsable for employees ,
So lets just say the Cable TV man shows up to add a box and walks past the Stainless fridge with his tool belt and lays a scratch down the door , so you call the office and they say YOU KNOW HOW EMPLOYEES ARE !!! dont think so :sifone:

I do agree with you what happend to getting what you paid for. Hell people do make mistakes & sometimes even forget simple things by not double checking thier work. Lying and or cheating usually ends up costing places somewhere.. IMO sometimes it is better to make a dollar less and still make money than to rush things and have it cost you more and in more ways than one.. J

out em. you gave them a chance to do the right thing. it looks like you spent big bucks. i got a mercury 150 outboard and got it home and noticed spider cracks all over the cover. i called the dealer and hea argued with me telling me i must hace hit it or something. i told him that i didn't do anything. he said he would get back to me. well, a few days later he called to apologize saying merc puts something on the crate that will tell if it tips over and the shipper had noted that it did indeed tip over. he had to eat a little crow and replace the cowl

Good point, In business and life we all make mistakes. Hell Chit happens.. Maybe it was an honest mistake or oversight. Granted one that sux, but it may have been unintentional. Althought a simple double checking and a few more minutes of time could have eliminated that.

Anyhoo, if it is just the pan and tin, not major engine damage it may not be that bad. Maybe the packer or carrier will meet him somewhere in the middle on it?. Some tin may be better that the bad PR.. Also maybe they could be reimbursed for some of it or all of it by the shipping insurance? Hell, I will even venture out on a limb here to throw in a question of "is it possible that the other bolts were in, but not all the way or tight and fell out during transport?".. I dont know, but I dont know the builder or the shipper. I just hope it all works out for eveyone and I dont want to badmouth anyone too much without knowing all of the facts on both sides. Again it is a sucky situation, but hopefully it will all end well for both sides there.. :) J

IMO BANK WIRES were done and just a job # maked PAID IN FULL :03:

1. Why are you shipping all the way to AZ?????????? Just imagine if anything goes wrong with the motors, will they step up then?

2. I know who it is but out the guy before they screw someone else. Let 'em dispute it on the boards. You outing them on the boards IS your future warranty as well.

Sorry to hear about your luck bro!

Bolts were never put in , and were never found in the crate anywhere , took the stand offf the other motor that had 8 bolts and bolted it on this motor and no pulled threads ... I was told was in a hurry to get it packaged and crated ... I sent an email was going to take it to a local engine bldr and have him get it 110% and the phone call i recieved monday morn was i will make it right and buy the parts and pay overnite shipping and walk you thru the fix but dont take it to another shop... :03:

at least you sould get back the "extra money" you paid for crates and packaging. that really didnt work did it... good luck with everything.

If you took it to another shop, then you can forget about getting any sort of warranty service from the original builder.

That one line would scare the hell out of me. What don't they want another shop to see?

Im guessing that he was worried he would get a BIG bill from another engine bldr to make her right again ,fix the problem, and they dont pay no backcharges ...:sifone:

That is kinda Chitty though and should offer to have it picked up and send it back when done ... Although at this point i would have to decline the offer back to ARIZONA , and deliver it to the local shop.:seeya:

That's why I love mercury. Before you send it you know your going to get ****ed. They even lube you up prior. In all seriousness that is one good thing about mercury, they are a big company to back their service.
