Golf Stuff.

Speaking of men who smoked unfiltered and slept in parking lots.... I have been watching 1950s Alfred Hitchcock shows. The men are men and the dames are dames. Everybody drinks and smokes like crazy, and they all look old at 40.
John Daly was just born after his time.

I couldn't watch the TV Series Madmen because of all the smoking. I think it was Hitchcock Who started the whole

Actors smoking thing...It gave the People Who weren't Talking something to do while waiting to speak Their lines.

Playing 18 today. Former club president is hitting directly after me. I think I will offer to let him go ahead. This is my first time out in 5 months. When I left off, I was hitting the fairway more often than not. Driving range is not open for season yet, so what we get is what we get. Gonna pretend it's still last year and grip it and go.

Playing against much better golfers in tournaments is literally the purpose of handicaps.
Only 14% of US golfers carry a handicap. Pretty much country club members. Maybe some leagues.
The average of those for men is about a 17HC.
People who carry handicaps are typically more serious than the average golfer.

If golfers all kept handicaps, the average would be around 30.

But I think for PGA purposes, they should stick with people between a 15 and 25. Too high and pace of play goes to shit while bubba looks for his ball again.
Remember, an 18 HC will shoot a 90 on a par 72. The average recreational golfer shoots over 100. (which is at least a 28). I finally shot under 100 enough to be a 23. I shoot around 95 a lot. 90 on a good day. 105 on a bad day.
115 if watching Bobcat swing. :o
