Well here's my take.
In a move purely out of desparation I posted my story about my obligation to raise money for the MDA. I really didn't know what to expect.
The first thing to happen is that Chris made it a "sticky" and a pledge to throw their weight behind it. Within an hour SOS members reached 80% of my goal. I also posted the same on OSO. I know there are folks like myself that check in on both and maybe more forums. That said the spirit here and the generosity was nothing short of inspirational. I even recieved a late donation from A "secret Santa" to help me reach my goal of $10,000. Meanwhile over there, I had some repsonse and although I'm truly greatful to those that helped out, it was nothing like what happened here.
And as some as you know I tried it on another forum ( boaters but non-performance ).
I was met with nothing but controversy on that one.
So let me conclude by offering my heartfelt thanks to all of those that helped and for your support of the MDA. You know who you are.
Beyond that thanks to SOS for being what it is. Congratulations you've earned it!

Great site, thanks to all who developed and contribute. I have picked up valuable technical information from members on this site. Check every day for some of the very entertaining banter that makes the place unique.
