got a horrible prognosis last night...weeks possibly couple months. now we are just trying to get her out of ICU into a regular room, and going to attempt to get her back to Jersey...THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR THOUGHTS PRAYERS AND SUPPORT
well we got mom out of hosp and into a rehab in FLA. the prognosis is still grim...she appears to be out of immediate harms way they say 3+ months. our goal is to get her back to NJ for others opinions and see if we can get her strong enuff to possibly buy her some more time without destroying her quality of life. Thank you all again for the calls, emails and texts offering an ear or shoulder.
Bernie, been there , done that , but with my Dad in FL and me in Jersey so I can certainly sympathize with you. As a matter of fact , the anniversary of his passing is 2/2/09. My prayer for strength go out to you and your family.
For years my Dad and I would argue about "Pops' putting away coin for when he retired . Pops said " I am not going to live long enough to worry about about that ". "Pops retired at 65 and was diagnosed with lung cancer 4 months later . Poor guy was given a year but only lasted to November
(9 months later). I sure miss the old fkr but he called it right . Live today cause who knows what is in store for tomorrow .
The good thing is inheritance tax is not my problem .
Paul
thanks everyone. spoke to her before. luckily shes in good spirits. took her first 30-40 ft walk with her walker today at the rehab in FLA..few weeks to go and hopefully be able to get her ass back to Jersey
Good luck, the chemo/radiation is a ***** and if the cancer wasn't bad enough the treatments put people to the absolute brink. Try to keep her spirits up and her will to live high. In the last four months I've lost a great uncle and a grandpa (so a double whammy for my grandma, her brother and husband) and my cousin-in-laws mom who was like a surrogate mom to me the last couple of years. All three lost the will to live and were gone within weeks. Its amazing how strong that will can be, be it for life or for death. Do what it takes to remind how nice it is down here and to stick around as long as possible!!!!
