It was the year they had the worlds in Atlantic City, I think. This was the KW Battle on the Seas. 1989 I think.

1989

1989.It was the year the Cesa cat came to the Atlantic City Worlds after being repaired in the Cowes - Torquay race ,when it damaged it`s underside aft ,after the continual pounding of landing stern first and was towed into Torquay harbour in a sinking state at 45 degrees of trim, whereupon it scraped the harbour bottom and did even more damage.

I think she almost sank in Key West in the final race. I think i have pictures of it with floats under the back keeping it up...

So much for the calm seas over in the states....

Cesa cat was run as Popeyes- in the 1989 Battle of the Seas - if I am not mistaken -

Hello Sean - right now - am home in NJ - where are you now ?

Sean is Nationwide! LOL

Actually he called me Monday from I95 right around here. He was headed to do some work in the Carolinas and if I recall correctly Louisiana and Texas. So he may not be online for a while.

Buzzi generally kicked everone's ass in whatever class he chose. The only exception was class one cats. Of course, I always felt it was my duty to remind him of that. Otherwise his successes were the broadest of anyone that I can think of.

...The only exception was class one cats..

I think Mr. Buzzi always was too much of a businessman to waste much efforts and money for the development of models he could not sell outside the racing circus. Btw there was Mededil and his 'Valentino' was good enough to spank the Cougars and Skaters sometimes.

I believe it was also the year we lost Kevin Brown in the 32' Team Skater with Jim Dike throttling. Very sad year...

Hello Sean - right now - am home in NJ - where are you now ?

I am in South Carolina at the moment but will be in Jersey in a coupleof weeks maybe we can do lunch again if you wish.....maybe we will invite Mr. Luhrs.....:sifone::sifone::cheers2::cheers2:

Atlantic City was run at Trumps Marina - then later in KW is was called - Battle on the Seas - we filmed both - and Yes, we lost Kevin Brown that year - his father was flying in one of our Helicopters - very sad.

We also filmed the CESA car with Buzzi and Carlo Bonomi in Europe - the boat was sinking in the Torquay harbor - was repaired and shipped to Key West where it was raced as Popeyes in the Battle on the Seas - BIG SEAS has these events on DVD - Battle on the Seas in KW was a rough race too as I remember.
