see the beige spots on the side?? if you look at the govt surplus auction site, when those come up for sale, the military has to render them 'inoperable' first. they do that by first striping the boat, then they poke lots of holes in the side with a forklift. doesn't do much for structural integrity....

They used to swiss-cheese them with a .50. Kind of expensive compared to the forklift.

Yes, NAVY.
We see stuff like that on occassion around here. Over the years, I think they have used many hulls and engine configurations (I've even seen some with 3 and 4 outboards), and most of the time, it's hard to tell what kind of boat, unless you strictly look from the rubrail down.

2 of them were at the nypd dive team station in brooklin last summer .my nefew said they were 45' custom bulit in texas.700 mercs.45 nts in 7-8 ft seas.

Funny you noted the forklift deal. The boat I saw had wavy sides and it looked like somebody had filled the side w/ glass and bondo.
