What is the best VHF radio for race/poker run

I am confused with all the new stuff with these VHFs. what is needed and not.
Also, it must be fixed mount and be able to be used with Radio comm' headsets I plan to buy in the future.

Oh yeah, I do not want a 20 foot whip antenna on my deck. Is there anouther way, or do they have mini antenna like GPS.

If you boat any distance from help, you need the antenna. Stow it underneath if you have to, but if your boat conks and the water kicks up, you're going to wish you had it.

VHF is line of sight. Taller the antenna the better off you are.

As for brand, etc. I have had good luck with Icom and Standard. Icom being the 'better' of the two according to most but I never noticed any difference other than the logo and the price.
