What is the best mag to subscribe too?

I have been getting "Power and Motoryacht" for several years and I don't know why. They send me a cancellation notice saying if I don't renew now my subscription will end, but I just keep getting it. If you think Powerboat tests boats out of the average guys price range, you should read this one. I will NEVER be able to afford most of the boats in it.

After 3 years of telling me they were going to cancel me, power and motoryacht stopped coming. Interesting to look at, but not interesting enough for a subscription.

I get Hot Boat, Powerboat, Power and Motoryacht (If you fill out the form once a year it stays free), got two Extremes is all.

Are you sure Hot Boat is through? Thought that was a bogus ad. If true, maybe we could buy and rename "Serious Boat".

I think Powerboat mag has the best tech section info there is currently. Have not looked at a Performance mag yet though. I have tech articles kept from my first issue in 1972. Plus I used to love the annual performance issues and kept all. Nordskog was, and Teague is, sharp.

Just signed up for proboat, will see.

I get Powerboat and Hotboat as I paid for those but for some reason since late 1999 I keep getting Yachting. I have called Yachting a few times over the years to tell them I never paid for a subscription and they really do not need to waste an isue on me because they go straight from the mailbox to the trash in the garage. I still get Yachting!

Give it to your local free clinic, maybe someone will want to go get a job.

Glad this thread popped up! Some of the mags are doing a crappy thing. They are publishing the same issue with different covers. So when you are at the store, what looks like a new edition, is the same issue with a different cover. I first found this out when my Motion Lubejobs was on the cover of Hotboat. Several people told me the boat was on the cover, but i didn't get my issue yet. When the issue came, it was another small red cat on the cove and a tiny picture of lubejobs on the very top. When I told the people that origionally told me about it, they said their issue had the opposite. Sure enough, Hotboat made 2 diffent covers. I inquired about it and i was told it increases sales.
It has happened to me a couple of times recently with other mags. Now i look through them a bit before i buy them.

Didn't know that. Will watch in the future.

That's pretty chitty if you ask me. I run a 2 man operation and have been at it for a little over a year now and never put out the same issue twice.. All the advertising that Hot Boat has there is no reason for that..

Heard they were in trouble. Also heard that was BS.

Who knows.. I do know this though, advertising pays for magazines. I find it hard to believe that a magazine that has been around that long, with all it's ads and more than likely people involved has to put out the same material twice with just a differnt cover. A marketing skill maybe...but to me that just aint right.

Same. I've had the same thing happen in books to read by popular authors. Pisses me off.

Probably gonna sound stupid here, but what magazine? I'm assuming RPM about cars?

RPM is correct but No cars, it's all about offshore racing...

Found it. When I searched, there was a car mag and a farm mag on page one of results.

I'll look into it. You should put a live link in your sig line for people to click on.

Our issue that will be out this month covers the st.clair race, a patchogue write-up by Jason Zolecki, an interview with John Cosker, JBS in LOTO, Key west, and alot more.. All kinds of good material...

We were in St. Clair and Key West. Look forward to it. Is it only available through subscription? If not, who carries it?

Still should put a link in for us dummies.:)
