What is the best mag to subscribe too?

Wow...so, I'm not the only one? I've been getting it a while now and i have no idea why in the heck it started showing up.

Like I said - it was coincidentally timed with the Acquisition by IB of OSO.

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I have a feeling our names were sold in some way because at the time I had NO other boating connections that would have any of my information.

The rap agains boat mags not reflecting the average guys budget is BS. Look at the car mags- Lamborghini has sold fewer cars in its existence than Toyota will sell today- but everyone wants to look & dream. How about Hot Rod? They sell tons of copies to the 16-24 crowd and those customs are often 6-figure cars.

I couldn't agree more. It's just like I too enjoy reading Yachting magazine...I can't afford a yacht, but I like to look at them and can appreciate them.

I think most don't realize the powers that be at Powerboat dont choose who they want to test. PBM puts out the offer to all builders to show up at their test trials, they do one in florida and one in Arizona (parker/havasu) to cover both coasts. They never really know what they are going to get. And I personally think the whole Teague thing is BS too. The guys got an impressive racing/boating history. He and Johnny Tomlinson make a good pair to test boats with the rest of the test team at PBM.

I like Powerboat the best and have had it for years. I also get Boating Magazine which isn't too bad and Power & Motor Yacht which is just ok but the subscription was only $7 so why not. I had a subscription to Extreme Boats paid for a year and got 4 issues,

The problem with the boating magazines is that the majority of them do not cover what we want to see, and the ones that do you're lucky to get one every once in a while. Heck there's one that I have 3 subscriptions to (some comp, and marketing crap) and if I get one of the 3 I figure I'm lucky.

Now if you want some really good reading get RACE TECH, and race engine Technology two of the best books you'll Ever read.

The best mag that i subscribe to is actually a free one i get called Professional Boat Builder magazine. Its a trade mag that has tons of great info in it.

Yup............ I agree 100%. I love that magazine! I also enjoy the poker runs america but, allot of the times I have already seen all the pics online before getting the mag.
Jr.

Peanut, I will set you up with PBB..........

I like Hot Boat the best. Powerboat is kinda dry and acts like bikinis are not a normal part of performance boating. I haven't gotten extreme in many months.

Playboy is always good too. Carmen Electra looks great this month!

Dave do you really think anybody else on this site would subscribe to that mag or wooden boat builder unless they are in the trade ? I have been getting my boat builder mag through Skater since the 90s:rofl::rofl::rofl: besides i do not think anybody here would hold much interest in it unless it was Hot Boat , Power Boat , or Extreme unless they were involved in the trade .:rofl::rofl::sifone:

this group? most definetly. I think the people on this site and any true boater like most of us really like learning anything and everything about the sport/hobby and the boats we run. plus its free :D

HA! That's funny. Trust me, the staff at PBM has nothing against bikini's. They just don't consider themselves a magazine that needs girls in bikini's to sell their product. Mags about boats, not girls in bikini's. But hey, the whole bikini concept has worked well for Hotboat...oh wait, they're going under, Never mind.

I am writing for Performance Boats Mag now and I am going to write about more hands on things we are doing in the shop like some of the more interesting projects. I just finished a article on cleaning and flow testing electronic fuel injectors that will be in the Jan edition. I am also building some big cubic inch small blocks for a Nascar Team combining a lot of their nascar engine parts with marine parts going in a 32 Sunsation that I am writing about.
