What a phucking day. Need some of those prayers guys.

Prayers for your Dad and your family. Like everyone said, be strong and supportive and I am sure everything will be just fine.

Be positive in your life and assistance to your family. We're here and have your back. Let us know if you need anything.

I went through this with my dad a few years ago. It's shocking to hear at first, but as everyone said, there's tons of treatment options. Like your dad, mine's in great health, goes to the gym 5 days a week, etc etc. Sometimes these things just happen.

I know it will be tough for you, especially being farther away but it's very treatable as long as it's caught soon and dealt with.

Thanks everyone.

I think maybe you're right. The initial shock hit me like a ton of bricks.

Thanks everyone that has had experience with this for chiming in. You've helped calm my worries. The good thing is that this was caught right away.

Tim-

as a physician and son of someone with prostate ca, your dad has many options ahead of him and early detection nearly always results in excellent outcomes. It is best to find a urologist who is board certified and if in doubt about his/her treatment plan, always seek a 2nd opinion from another unbiased physician. Treatment and monitoring regimens are rapidly evolving and there are many differing opinions on treatment scenarios out there.
There is an old saying in medical school...."any man who lives long enough will develop prostate cancer in his lifetime" It is common and treatable. Best to you and your family...

The word "cancer" makes your heart drop but in all reality, one is better off getting prostate cancer than the flu.

Take this as a learning experience to live life to the fullest (as in get that boat done!). :cheers2:

Cheers!

Nice to hear that from a professional!

DoubleDown - thank you for posting that.
I copied what you wrote and sent it to my folks. They are pretty shook up, and I hope that your words as a professional are a bit calming to them, it has helped with me.

Thanks to the rest of you for the concern. It's nice to realize just how many friends, and how many people are out there for you if you need them. I was somewhat floored by this last night, and you all helped me take a bit of the worry off. Thanks. Hopefully I don't need that sort of thing again of this topic, or for that matter, any other (or any of you).
