Weird trailering rules

Customer came down to Alabama today to pick up a new Formula cruiser.Since it was overwidth and slightly over height,he did the wise thing and permitted it. But weird thing,he can haul today in AL,KY and IN but cant run in TN till Sat because of Good Friday,so he has to spend the night at the AL/TN line.What's the reasoning behind that?Plus the permit sent him thru a residential area and into Bham,rather than due north from Jasper. The route they gave him would have left the radar arch in a tree limb.He decided to take a chance and go the way we always go,but is not going to risk going thru TN today. Seems to make no sense.What does Good Friday have to do with trucking?

It's in the bible, rule 276, section 8, lines 29-33 of the bible bylaws clearly make it illegal to tow any given boat over the size of "big" or any boat on trailer of said size including but not limited to houseboats, pontoons and power boats, etc...on good friday and every other good monday",

It may be considered a holiday and if so cant two permit loads on a holiday.

It has nothing to do with the Bible Belt or Good Friday. Any holiday major cities restrict oversize loads from around noon on Friday until noon on Monday or Tuesday. Try the Northeast, New York you're done driving at 3pm every Friday. Virginia restricts the beltways from 3pm until 6pm daily, which sucks since you can't drive after sunset.

+1, it's not really that bad of an idea is it? There are some drivers that never even use the interstate until it is a holiday and may get spooked trying to pass and slip up somehow? The worst accidents IMO are the ones you here about on a holiday where a whole family got wiped out and so on.

And a lot of states do not allow oversized loads on Sunday. I feel Sunday morning is one of the best times to pull. You general have no traffic until about 2 PM.

Most states won't allow OD on a holiday or peak traffic times around a metro area. Running after dark varies from state to state. IN & OH will not allow after dark, unless you're on the turnpike, but only under certain dimensions. IL will let you run their toll road up to 10' wide. Over 10' and it's the side roads in the burbs. Signage, flagging, flashing lights, escorts, etc all vary from state to state. If you want to read a complicated and twisted book, pick up a copy of the OD Regulations Book....frig'n thick as a bible.

Seriously though....don't get caught off route with OD. The fines in some states run in the thousands.

robert I have run large cats through Tenn 7 days a week night and day. I would take the chance and go. Calif is one of the few states that let you tow oversize 7 days a week 24 hours a day. but you have to avoid major cites
