Weber on APBA Offshore Racing: "It's Going to Take Some Time"

I was APBA VP for Offshore, and Chairman of the Offshore Comission in '67, 8 and 9, and the US delegate to UIM Offshore for a little longer. In my opinion, the APBA is the most valuable asset in all of offshore racing. APBA is the conduit to global racing. My job as delegate was to keep Europe's rules in line with ours, which ever way they needed to be bent. Back then, we had foreign entries at every race, and 20 to 40 "furriners" at Key West after the one race format for the championship. It was a HELL of a lot better. International rules also discourage local a-holes from goofing with the rules.

LOL! I'll bet we could all help populate that list, mostly from the standpoint of "OK - They got what they wanted, so why aren't they racing any more?"

Hey Guys,

I've corrected it in the story but it's going to take a little for the feed to make it here. Typo: Weber said APBA will have Powerboat P1 in 2011, not 2001.

As usual, Pat Weissman keeps me honest. Thanks Pat.

That is one S and two N's.....

One day you will write a story about Drysumps and make me happy.
