So here is the nagging question
Three companies that i know of have attempted (With some sucsess others without) to rebuild the old boats into new ones Saber, Apache (McManus) Chief I am sure there are more
Should the 41 hull be reinvented or should it go by the way side as a great boat and leave it alone ???
Should the hull be built with new materials and technology ?? Or should we leave well enuff alone and if we want a new 41 or 42 go buy a Cig, Nor Tech, or somthing else
They have reinvigerated the Camaro but they are not using old body panels and old tooling
Has the retro thing died ?? or would it be a cool nitch market ???
Any thoughts ???

doesnt McCarthy have 41 molds or a version of a 41? is anyone buying it?
seems as if there was a time when people dumped lots of coin into boating and hotsey totsey boats at that, however demand for a wave crusher just doing 112 doesnt interest people...owners want break the nextspeed record and to be a new local rock star, not have a bar room chat about how their boat was built to have extra oil tanks to get the orig owner back in on a cloudy night while halling che che as a work boat.

I think I remember hearing Charley posted he has access to bobby's molds to build the Chief or a flat-bottom without an insert?????
either way, Bobby has them so if anyone is interested......:leaving:
I agree about the difference in the sport... People tell it to me all the time...all I hear is "speed"... it doesn't interest me as much as the "ride."

I think there's always a niche market, the question is can you make money and/or have investment in it and that's where most companies go flat.
BUT, you never know what the future holds...

by the way did you see the last documentary of him and what did you think of it?
I saw it. I liked it, found out some interesting things but wished it would have more boat info.
