One of the main issues with health care, and the almighty Ted Kennedy started it, everyone seems to think it is an entitlement protected by the constitution or something.
Kennedy started the HMO stuff, (gets a ****pot full of campaign money), then badmouths it, etc. Just like Hillary and Wal-MArt.
But, it's not an entitlement. Why should it be free? What reason should it be free? I have a friend who's an RN in emergency. She talks about those who come in and insist on getting treatment for a hangnail and they have no insurance. By policy then, they have to see a doctor, a nurse cannot treat and release.
Also, why should it be the same price for everyone? Odds said Ted Kennedy was going to cost more than the healthy individual. You drink heavily, whore around, party hard, get your Doughboy appearance, chances are you're gonna die before the ripe old age of 80+ of something other than old age heart failure.
He should have to pay more for his insurance, have a larger deductible, or have a larger minimum co-pay. That's the way every other insurance works. That's the way health care insurance should work.
There are incentives for driving safely, having burgular alarms/dead bolts, keeping jewels in a safe, etc.
If you have lots of tickets, you're a bigger risk, you pay more.
If you build your house on stilts over the ocean in a hurricane zone, you pay more.
Check to see how much you pay for life insurance if you're overweight with high blood pressure and smoke.......
Health insurance should follow the same rules. Period
