HIGH SPEED ACTION! 2025 Thunder on Cocoa Beach Offshore Powerboat Race Set for May 15-18​

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The 2025 Thunder on Cocoa Beach offshore powerboat races will return for their 15th year on Florida’s Space Coast, scheduled for May 15-18.

Join the exciting action for four days and nights of parties and racing. The Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix is one of the most popular attractions for the whole family and one of the largest in Central Florida.

It draws the top race teams in the World to compete in various classes, with Class 1 reaching speeds over 175 mph.

Thunder on Cocoa Beach, one of the nation’s top offshore powerboat racing events, announced KelTec as the official title sponsor for the 2025 races.

The KelTec Thunder on Cocoa Beach will take place this year from May 15 to May 18, bringing high-speed action and community celebration to Florida’s Space Coast.

KelTec, a leading innovator in firearm design and manufacturing, joins forces with Thunder on Cocoa Beach in a partnership fueled by performance, precision, and passion.

And I'm not sure how Sunday will go yet.

The first race of Mod Vee's should be awesome. This is their first race of their National and World Championship, fully sponsored by their benefactor. The last vote they had as a class included 13 teams, but a couple of the teams boats may not be ready until the race in New Orleans. Still, the class is growing very nicely, and the majority will be there.

The Class 1 boats World Championship does not start until New Orleans, so I expect none of them at this time.

The ProClass 1 boats, (New non-APBA or UIM recognized class), are boycotting this race and are supposed to run at LOTO as their first race under the new spinoff org.

Super Vee is still on the fence as to what races they will do.

Factory Stock, that I call the 500 outboards, should have all of the teams there except the 2 or 3 MTI's that have bolted at this time.

About half the Super Cat teams are saying they will be in Cocoa, about half are on the fence still. I have my fingers crossed that they will all make it as it is the first race of the run for US1, 5 race series.

So, Sunday's races are concerning, but a couple of classes are going to be really interesting. I'm really looking forward to the Mod Vee's. And I am really curious about the 450's moving up to the 500's.
