This legal fee seems high

Taxes, Transfer & Recordation, survey, title search, title insurance, settlement charges, etc.

When I bought the 6.25 acres that I built my house on the owner of the parcel told me the price that he wanted to clear. I had to to cover all the other expenses and fees, do all the chasing around. All he had to do was have his atty eyeball the sales agreement and show up for the closing.

I wanted the land bad enough that that was fine with me, turned out to be an excellent buy regardless the aggravation.

Just got an email from the attorney. He cut the fee to $500 and appologized for the confusion. My attorney buddy looked at it and said he would be embarassed to charge $150. He said it was a std form, just type in the names and other info,1/2 hour tops. But I'm OK with the $500.

Good deal- got it cut by 2/3 even if it is only a $150 job you should feel better.

Wobble- I'd agree in your situation. This was me selling a slice for like $10K and then spending 1/3 of it on due the deal. I offered to split it with them, they said nope and I said nope to the deal. They thought they I would budge until a nice Amish shed showed up 2 weeks later.
