newspaper recycle competitions between different grades(classes)....all piled around the kid droppoff at school

My old man paid me .25 an hour to pick up bricks, etc. on the job site as a kid. It wasn't a cheap education work wise.... I was the head ditch digger from birth to the day I stopped building.

I think that's why kids aren't as driven as we are. They never got to have all that fun.

Mtv is part of what ruined kids today. Too much emphasis on celebrity BS.

Part of it is because we protect them to a fault. They can't work a job, ride a bike without a helmet, ride without a car seat, take care of their brothers and sisters when younger than ? (whatever the authorities in that area decide), etc.

I'd hate to be a kid now from that standpoint. Half the fun stuff we're talking about would never happen today.
