Just once. I bet they'd go well over 220mph

I think they have a hard time keeping the cars on the ground if they run them without restricter plates.

At one time they ran the cars without restricter plates and ran well over 200. Sometimes the bunched up "pack" racing gets boring.

In 1988, Bill Elliott turned a Talladega qualifying run of 212.809 MPH.

But that was too fast, and too scary.......
