The Official 2009 Daytona 500 Thread

Just look around a little. I have searched other tracks. You can usually pick your seats. There may be some virtual view tools to use.. I expect the high end and some premium stuff is sold years in advance but not all.

I would want to be across from pit row. But I am sure that is a popular choice. A friend of mine goes to Richmond every year. He likes being low near the exit of a turn. So you smell the cars and get hit with rubber.

we were low and right past turn 4 on the front straight at dover and the rubber and smell was awesome.

But he can't see the whole track from there. Our fall Martinsville seats are on the 59th row just right of the start finish line. We can see every thing but the first few pit stalls. We ahve the same seats for the truck race too. I think Martinsville is the most bang for the buck for a cup race. Our tickets are one $100 a piece for both races.

I have another friend who bought a old RV and does the infield thing. That is more me I think. I like to walk around and check everything out between the races.

Martinsville does nto have infeild camping, or passes during the race for that matter. We camp in the track camp ground right next to the track. It's a 4 day none stop part. :26:

So The new kid crashes out. Brian Vickers learned not to cut off a faster car. K baby got some karma pay back, Gordon can't run so much camber. Goodyear needs to build a better tire. should one inch cost you a lap on pit road. Maybe some instant replay is in order.

I'll give you the new kid crashes but Vicker's wasn't the reason half of the fast cars were wrecked it was your boy "Ironhead Jr"... he lived up to his daddies moniker today...right or wrong they were both a lap down and fighting for the stupid "lucky dog" and "Jr" took him and most of the leading cars out and should have been set for at least "five" laps like they did to Lefler in the Nationwide race for something that was half as bad and only spun one car....

Jr. went way below the double yellow when he tagged Vickers the first time and when that didn't work he went on and hit him again to wreck a lot of good front running cars on the lead lap....you can say all you want but with the rules and the double yellow it doesn't matter how fast your going you should at least have the ability to control your car when attempting to pass....

They both made bad decisions.

And the outcome sucked. I agree.

It is easy to second guess and scrutinize things that happened in a fraction of a second.

I might excuse the first hit on Vickers car but as "DW" just said on Speed turning up that abruptly into him the second time was a lack of judgement and caused the big one....seems he has the Nascar god's on his side but in my opinion should have been brought in and penalized for aggressive or rough driving...the car in front {Vickers) was on the same lap and has every right to drop down and protect his line on a restart....just because Jr. laid back and had a run doesn't give him the right to run over another car...

Racing is aggressive. It was a matter of inches or less. Your damned if you let off and your damned if you don't.

I'll have to remember that quote when my driver punt's your's out of the way and everyone's calling foul because he's a driver you don't like or driving different make of car... In this case he (Jr.) could have let off without consequence, heck he was completely below the double yellow and not just straddling it, he wasn't even on the racing circuit...

Sure racing is aggressive but drivers who are a lap down shouldn't do stupid things that affect the ultimate outcome of a race that they have no chance of winning regardless of how many fans you have or who your daddy was....
