The Great Unification

It needs to be exactly the same accross the orgs. Then we can meet in the middle on an equal footing. Same rules, same GPS, same everything.

Right now if I go to KW, I will either run against #6 boats, that are 4 mph faster than my boat, or be put in C2 and race against boats with twice the HP. I will not invest the $ to go to KW without a level field and a guarantee on what class and boats I will against. That is why the rules need to be the same.

If u go to KW ,,,,,,since when is Muscle racing or Global warmer.....and others twice the power then your Fountain ????
Did u get rit of 1 engine and save gas ??? LOL
And theb reason for bracket racing is a speed limit ...which is 105 MPH,,,so even u have a chance.( OK,,,,LOL, your boat would ) HAHA

Just beeing funny, Dean.

What is class 6 ?? 70 MPH ??? now come on we both know the boat runs 80 !!:)
And P-5 is 75 MPH.

Class 6 is 70mph. It is a 1979 Corsa. Measures 24' and change in length. Powered by Mercruiser 496 Mag HO. 80mph out of the question and would be unsafe. It is not competitive against 30' class 5 boat in rough water it is too short.

Dean,
You have a Founatin.. what more do you want? Odds are they will just make a class just for you.

Since I run a class 6 boat I would like to see SBI have a class 6. However, that doesn't mean I would race in any SBI races, since, as I stated earlier, the travel distance would be an issue. At least if there was a class 6, I might consider doing NY.

Any reunification really needs to address the big classes. Bracket racing, for the most part, is doing OK.

Rich

You are exactly correct......divisional and/or bracket racing needs to continue on its path and add strength with numbers. Spec classes need to get their poop in a group!!!!

As it would appear after the weekend the spec racer's still have a home called OSS, along with some pro-am teams good time was had by all. Joint races might pave the way for more unity and larger boat counts!

Take your time a read my post. Global Warmer is #6, it and other 42 Fountains are the reason SBI and OSS SV doesn't exist any longer. Why would I spend $10k plus to race at a disadvantage in KW? TKO in C2 is a twin 900hp blower #6 boat, my motors Dyno at 610hp and has Bravos. Muscle has raced one race this year.

If however the rules were the same between OPA and SBI, I would have 6 or 7 equal boats in my class. That sounds much more appealing.

Or I could just go like Rick says and demand my own class and "win" a "World Championship"!:26:

Two divisions with same rules is the only way to go other than fold SBI and let OPA rule the offshore world.

wahoo, i'm not in a 100% agreement with what smitty did with P-2 into SV(525 and bravo only). i understand the arguement but the way the rules were tko just had a better mouse trap that was legal to race. i think that something should have been done to let him keep racing with you guys instead of just changing the rules liek you did. even though the new SV rule made it better for some in that class it pushed out TKO and bandit and in turned a 6 boat field into 4. plus now theres no more P2 for other guys that possible wanted to run P2.

105 is 105!!! sometimes you just gotta live with not having a first place boat.

plus in the safety first program want ever happened to having to have full enclosed canopies over 100 mph ??

DAMN,,,WE AGREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!:sifone:

I stoped counting how often i got screwed.:(
There is a nice saying that i finaly started to believe in ...."believe nothing what u hear and only half of what u see" !!!!!!!!:sifone:

and just too put things in perspective, how many times have we heard that certain racers are going to show and race and then never make it? if there was an award for this BS scotty you'd finally be the winner of something !!!

Dean, Muscle raced against TKO,and all the other #6 boats and actually won some of these races ....with a 525 and Bravo set up.
Could it be its the guys in the boat ??? LOL

I race a single engine boat in P-4 against twin engine boats and i don't *****.
U know why,,,,i have fun racing ...don't care if i win or lose.
That is what racing should be about...and yes winning feels better and so on.But thats not what this boating Hobby is all about.
Its the party's the Fans,,,the fellow racers and so on.

U know ,,,u could put some arneson conversions on that boat of yours too.

Of all the classes the twin Vs seem to have the greatest hurdles to jump top come together. My thoughts are all the number 6 boats should run together power to weight. Right now there are plenty if grouped together to make a great race. Global Warmer, Mikkosukee, Hard Rock, Saratoga stampede, Panasonic, Rock Star, Sobe, and possibly a few more. Currently each boat has different power.

They current OPA rules for the Bravo Vs seems to work well. I don't know how it is possible to combined the two.

Any way. Many of us raced Pro Am Sat and Spec on Sunday.. We had a blast running around together with the 42 fountain duking it out in the turns. They were faster but, we could get around the turns as fast. Fun Fun.

I am hoping the 3 orgs can all run a joint race or more. Each have site worth sharing to make a bigger show.

Dave,
Sometimes it better for a class and therefore the Org to better match up the boats. By creating SV in OPA we now have a premier spec class of nearly identical boats. C2 is still a class in OPA if the boats show and the TKO crew is always welcome with open arms at OPA. We do miss them. The Bandit boat was sold so they could buy the Bad Boy Bandit and race SV.

105 is 105 absolutely, but why would you race if you didn't have a "first place boat"? I don't believe any of us are there to be paying boat count. Moving all the 525s SVs to C3 would have killed C3 and most likely C4 when the C3 boats moved down. Placing boats in their proper classes has always been one of the key points of sucess in OPA.

And, I must add, 105 is not really 105 absolute. A number 6 boat that runs a true 105 will beat a bravo boat that runs a true 105 every time they race, with the possible exception of a fluke. It's just the cornering ability.

That being said, I always wonder when the number 6 payback hits? I believe, and you guys can correct me if I'm wrong, the spins and damage done to Dean, Smitty, Louie, Bad Boy, etc would not have happened with the exact same boats with 6's. Therefore the initial expense of a 6 is offset at some point.

Scott, if you are trying to make a point, please use logic in making it. Running a 525 Bravo against a 900hp #6 with skilled crews will never be a "fair" race. Being a paying boat count, might be your idea of great time but not for those of us who race. Regarding when you used to fill the SBI boat count, my understanding is that you were forced to run P-4. Arneson's are not an opition in SV.

I would love to have 6's, but they do not fit in my hull. You need to cut the transom extension off and rework a lot of the engine bay. I would imagine that with 525s and 6s you would never need to lift the throttles.
