The Book Thread

"Letters from the Sandbox" Charles Meier. private contractors in Iraq. decent read, very fast. Some of you might recognize the author if you have been to the Red Garter, He's the bouncer.

I thought it was Rumbob Drunkpants !

Actually some rum in my coffee sounds awesome right now, but alas, the cupboard is bare.

Got Cannonball for xmas. Looking forward to reading it. Has some good pictures in it...

Also got a couple of Robert Williiams coffee table books. Very entertaining artist who doesn't seem to get his due compared to contemporaries like Roth and Von Dutch. The best part is the one that my wife had my inlaws get me had "Appetite for Destruction" on the cover. Entertaingly uncomfortable to open on xmas!

I keep forgetting to look up Cannonball.

Bring your reading glasses. Tiny tiny print, but already very entertaining. Sunday Driver by Brock Yates is also an awesome book.

In Sunday Driver, Brock writes of a season in Trans Am driving one of Warren Agor's Camaros. A bit of speedboat trivia... Warren Agor's chief mechanic (and I'll apologize in advance for the potential misclassification of his duties) was none other than Bob Madera, our old buddy RMBuilder from Marine Kinetics. I'm guessing half the guys on this board have Bob's valve train components or at least Bob's cams in their motors.

For the dog lovers:
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a GREAT read. 5 beers! The whole book is written from a dog's perspective whos owner is a racer. "I'd read it myself but I have no F-ing THUMBS!" sez the dog...

Thanks! I'll add it to my list.

Someone gave it to me for xmas last year. There were entertaining aspects to it but overall not my bag.

If you keep riding BMX bikes your bag is going to be in a mason jar full of phenol on the fireplace mantel !:puke:

I like to keep 'em guessing... Yesterday I wrecked on a skateboard!

So far so good on Cannonball. Made it to page 2 before I hit a Hunter Thompsen quote!
